Recruiting: rejected for inability to hire in Zone 2 when position is advertised as Zone 2/3
Hi all, I wasn't sure where to post this but this seemed like best place.
I applied for the Staff Product Manager, Dash Growth (https://jobs.dropbox.com/listing/6983636) position, and the first line states:
For this role, we are hiring in Zones 2 and 3.
Which is great, because I live in Zone 2 (Colorado). I later received a rejection email
Unfortunately, we do not have the ability to hire for Staff Product Manager, Dash Growth in your location and are not able to move forward with your candidacy at this time.
Is there a bug in the ATS incorrectly rejecting viable candidates vis a vis geography, or is it something else?
TIA, Ryan
Hi Keturi,
I've had the team review the attempted application and it seems that because you are within 100 miles of NYC, you are in Zone 1 making you not eligible for roles that are only open for Zones 2 and 3.
I'm sorry I could not deliver better news but hopefully another suitable role in Zone 1 will open up.

Hi Neal !
Thanks for getting back to me. Here's the job.

I live in Zone 2. I'm wondering if this was flagged because, although I live in Zone 2, I am less than 100 miles out of Zone 1. But, my metro area for Zone 2 is explicitly listed, and that's why I did apply.

Hi Keturi,
Thanks for reporting this to us, I understand just how frustrating something like this can be.
Could you let me know exactly which position that you were applying for so I can look into this?

Hi! I've also encountered this same issue. I applied because I am in Zone 2. I received the same type of email response as the OP.

Thanks Dell_Dropbox.
Yeah, this is more of a bug report rather than an inquiry to my application. Though if there is a bug found and resolved it would be great to hear it so I can reapply.

Hey there RyanL330, thanks for dropping by the community.
I'll check with the team and see if anything is amiss. I do want to set the expectation that we will not be able to comment on your application for employment specifically. But I can inquire about our application process and check that it is functioning as it should
