Support for Windows Server 2025
Hi there,
I get this error today and Dropbox stopped working.
OS is Windows Server 2025 Standard as a Terminalserver!!!!!!
What's that **bleep**????????
We are on 100% productive and production STOPPED!
We are NOT on Windows 7, 8 or 8.1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi dvanschrick
After further investigation, you should be able to restore Dropbox functionality by opting out of early (beta) releases. You can follow the instructions here to do so.
While Dropbox does not support Windows Server OS, this error message should not populate for Windows Server 2025, and it forces the app to quit. Reverting to the stable build should fix this as the banner message does not appear on the stable build.
Our engineers are now aware of this and are working to ensure this is fixed in future releases.

We really appreciate your feedback on this; I've already passed your comments along to our team.
Keep in mind that Windows Servers are not a supported setup for Dropbox.
Running Dropbox on an unsupported operating system carries the risk of loss of functionality, but your feedback has been reported.

We are experiencing the same issue on Windows server 2019 and 2022.

BenDBXand Hannah please let the product and the engineering teams to please continue allow support for Windows Server OSes(at least v. 2022 & 2025) past the May 2025 deadline. Thank you!

Hi BenDBX and Hannah for the hint regarding early releases.
I changed the toggle to stable and installed the LTS version. Is is currently indexing 360.000 files. Lets see if is working afterwards. I will keep you informed.

Hi BenDBX
We had the same problem (Dropbox Advanced Team account, Windows Server 2022) and had lost all data syncing for a week. This (opting out of early release) solved our problem like a charm!
Thanks for sharing this solution!
