The desktop app on Windows 11 isn't connecting to the internet
Application Affected
DropBox Windows App
Device
HP OmniBook
Operating System/Browser (if using the web)
Windows 11
Dropbox App Version (if using the app)
241.4.4853
Question or Issue
I just purchased a new Windows 11 machine and downloaded the DropBox app. In the system tray, when I hover over the greyed-out app, it says "Dropbox 241.4.4853 Connecting..." and it never changes. I have a similar issue on another Windows 11 machine. Can someone help me get this connected?

I'm only seeing this or "Starting" after installing dropbox on a PC that never had it before. I had tried installing a week ago and ran into authentication issues. I purged all older linked devices from my account to make room, and did full (advanced) re-install on this PC.Windows defender is disabled, there is no other firewall running that I'm aware of. Dropbox has connected through this home router with no trouble on other devices.

Hi davidseides, thanks for messaging the Community!
Could you try reinstalling the Dropbox desktop application, without uninstalling it first, by using this link?
Keep me updated with any progress!

I had been using the windows 11 dropbox desktop app for a while. I mainly use it to move pictures from a digital camera to my iPhone by syncing it with the mobile app.
A few days ago it was not syncing properly so I uninstalled the desktop app and tried to reinstall it. Now, the app will not open at all. I run the dropbox installer, it says it is downloading, then it says it has installed. It appears in the hidden taskbar folder. When I click on it, it just loads indefinitely and never opens. It says “Reconnecting to the internet. This may take a moment.” But my laptop is connected to my home wifi. When I click on the dropbox app from the start menu, the little blue loading symbol appears for around 1 second and then nothing happens.
I tried restarting, turning off antivirus/firewall, and updating my laptop. I tried doing the advanced reinstall, but the files it says to delete were not there. I can still log in to dropbox on browser, and the mobile app is still working on my iPhone.

Brand new Windows 11 PC setup, fresh install, fully updated. Dropbox will not connect for initial installation. When the install completes and the app opens it is stuck on "Reconnecting to the internet. This may take a moment". The task bar does not even show the dropbox icon. I have tried:- rebooting
- reinstalling Dropbox
- resetting network adapters
- rebooting network (modem/router)
- flushing dns and resetting sock
- completely disabling the firewall and built in native Windows virus protection
- manually changing my IP address
- going into the Preferences in the Dropbox app and setting custom proxy settings to No Proxy.
- I have reset my computer time/date and made sure it's correct
- I have tried running the install package with Run as Administrator
- I have uninstalled Onedrive and every other non-essential software
- I have verified there are no other anti virus software installed
- There is no VPN running or installed.
Absolutely nothing has worked. I have 30 other workstations on this network (PC and Mac) that are running Dropbox just fine.
Selecting "Sign in" in the app settings results in a "Unable to connect to Dropbox" error. I can connect to Dropbox.com and log in fine. Everything works except the Dropbox app on this one new machine.
