Very, very low video quality in DropBox Capture. Are there any settings to change that?

I just installed DropBox Capture and the video quality is absolutely terrible. It's like it was compressed down 100x, no text is readable and the audio is very choppy.  I cannot find any quality or compression settings. Any idea what the deal is or how I fix it? In theory this is a very nice tool for me so I would like to get it working well.

Hey there, bradlymathews, how are you today?

Does this happen to all of your Capture content? If you could send some screenshots my way, I'd appreciate it. It'd help me have a visual of this too.

Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

Thanks for looking into this. I tried a few screen recordings and a screen recording with video and they all did it. Screen caps are fine though. I am doing another one now to see if it has fixed. It is actual a tad better, but still pretty awful. I am on Windows 10.

Hey bradlymathews, sorry to jump in, but could you locate the Dropbox Capture icon in your taskbar and from there click on the ellipsis button on the upper right corner to access the app's preferences?

Could you try adjusting them to see if that helps improve matters?

Walter, I already tried to find a relevant setting here. It does allow me to change the resolution of the camera if I am doing a Screen Recording + Camera but it has no effect on the output quality. I should probably try a reboot, but have too much open to try right now.

If the reboot doesn't help, the next step would be to reinstall the app bradlymathews

    Keep me posted anyhow!

Finally got to testing this after a reboot. No change. Still very low quality as before.

Hi bradlymathews, I hope you’re doing well.

Can you please let me know whether you’re still having the same issue, so that we can investigate this further?

    Thanks!

I installed Dropbox Capture today as well. I teach online and wanted this to be a new tool I could use since I keep all my teaching stuff in Dropbox already. The video is terrible, didn't try the audio yet, but it's not usable.

I found in the settings where I could increase to 1080p from default 720p, will give that a try.
