What is the green circle with the white checkmark indicating? I don't want to sync my desktop files

What is the green circle with the white checkmark indicating? I don't want to synch my desktop files, I only want to have a backup that stays the same without risking that if I delete it on my computer, DropBox also deletes the "backup"? Or is it synch with that circle and checkmark.

Please advise, thanks

So, isn't synching different from backup? Please explain what this does. Compared with just wanting a backup not synching

For some reason, I thought "backup" means unaffected by changes on the PC - as opposed to synching. So actually the same thing?
Does Dropbox "backup" delete pictures if they are accidentally deleted from PC? (OneDrive supposedly doesn't do that.)
    Thank you

Hi DBuser555, the computer backup is one way, meaning that changes on the computer would sync to the site alone. It won't sync to other computers or mobile devices, and you can't edit those files from the Dropbox site directly.

Files can be deleted from the computer, and if need be, recovered within the recovery period from the Dropbox site.
