Why does the Android app not allow to sync arbitrary folders to Android?

The Dropbox mobile app is primarily for accessing your Dropbox account on your mobile device, and not for syncing files from the phone.
We appreciate your feedback and we take all comments into consideration when improving the Dropbox site and services.

You just confirmed what I see as a lack of functionality, but I think it is not an absurd request to ask a cloud storage provider to support folder syncing with the most used platforms.
There is no good reason really to restrict it to desktop platforms only.
