Why won't the Dropbox icon stay in my menu bar?
Why won't the Dropbox icon stay in my menu bar? How can I get it to stay there?

Hey Warren J., have you tried reinstalling the app (without uninstalling it), to see if the icon gets back in your menu bar?
If it comes back, but keeps disappearing, I would also suggest uninstalling the app, restarting your computer and then reinstalling it.

Maybe I'm wrong. Is the Dropbox icon supposed to STAY in the Menu bar?

Yes, indeed, Warren.
The Dropbox icon is the indicator that the app is working/running and also the place where you can find all your app preferences, etc.

Okay, I guess I'll have to use your suggestion to uninstall/reinstall Dropbox.

The Dropbox icon reappeared in my Menu bar. The hell with it! It now appears and disappears depending upon what's on my screen. It used to be there all the time, just like most of the other icons there, but I'm not going to bother with it anymore today.

Hello Warren J.
On macOS, the Dropbox icon can also disappear when there are more icons added by apps than available space in the menu bar. What I found useful is an app called Bartender which allows one to customize the icons shown in the menu bar. In my case, I used it to set the Dropbox app icon to be part of the icons that are always shown.
Hope this helps,

I think that did the trick. I reduced the icons to 14 (Don't ask how many I had before), and that seems to have been all that was needed. Now I have Dropbox back again. Thanks.

Glad to hear that did the trick, Warren J.. Feel free to mark my reply above as the solution, so that others could benefit from it as well.

What's the difference between "thumb" and "1 like"?
