Windows 10 event log ID 281 occurring for DbxSvc application, error
I am having trouble with my Dropbox. I am continually getting this error for my computer. I uninstalled and reinstalled Dropbox. I still get this error. I tried following the advanced reinstall directions on the Dropbox website. It didn't work (I admit that I couldn't find all the folders in steps 6-9).
I am not sure how to fix this. I am looking for some help. I think it might be crashing my PC but I am not sure.

Hey mikeproducteng54, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Do you maybe have a screenshot of the error message you're getting?
Also, is Dropbox currently installed on your computer and if so, what's the sync status of the app?
You can see that by hovering over the Dropbox icon in your system tray with your mouse.
Keep me posted.

Hi Hannah,
When my computer crashes, it just freezes the screen. A few times I have waited 10-20 minutes, and the screen just stays frozen. I just restart the computer by holding the power button.
The only error message I see is in the Event Viewer. The error message I copied to my first post.

Hey mikeproducteng54, sorry to jump in here!
Does your app crash immediately when you launch it, or a few hours after using it?
Do you have any idea of the approximate number of files that are synced to your device?

Hi Megan,
I notice that the error occurs when I start my computer. But the app doesn't crash at that time.
We have about 25,000 files. I have it for the company I work with.

Hi mikeproducteng54, have you tried contacting the support team regarding this matter?
- mikeproducteng544 years agoExplorer | Level 3
Hi Jay, no I did not. I can try.

I have the same problem, exactly.
The computer completely freezes (no bluescreen, just frozen), and the only thing to do is a hard restart. I am getting so tired of this, since it happens almost every day ( and sometimes when I am working, which is particularly annoying)

Hey there, miramira, let's jump right into this!
Can you clarify for me what’s the current app version of your Dropbox app, as well as its syncing status? You can see that by hovering over the Dropbox icon in your system tray with your mouse.
When did this start happening for you?
Let me know!

Hi, I am in contact with your support team about this issue and they have "escalated" the issue further up.
It has been going on for a while - but it was only recently I figured out that it was Dropbox that seems to cause the problem. There is no problem with syncing and Dropbox is working as intended (except, obviously, for freezing my computer now and then)
