Cannot open Excel files with the Excel app through Dropbox on iPhone
I use the Dropbox app on my iphone. I used to be able to open excel files in excel by using “open with - excel”. But now it sends me to a screen saying Microsoft Integration wants permission. I hit the Allow button (the only other option available is “learn more”) and it just takes me back to the list of files in Dropbox. I can never get past that. I used to be able to open them from the Excel app as well, but not now. What has changed and what can I do?
- Thank you.
In the meantime I have worked out how to use the OFFICE 365 app which was suggested by a previous user.
Open the 365app, press on the top left corner (your icon) of the screen, a menu comes in, click the “storage accounts”, choose which dropbox you want and then which Excel sheet. It opens for editing in Excel.

I've been having this issue and it struck me that it's only been happening since I upgraded my iPhone.
As I was reinstalling the Dropbox app, it occurred to me that I'd not unlinked my old iPhone from my Dropbox account - so I unlinked the old iPhone before connecting Excel on the new iPhone.
It's hard to know whether unlinking the old phone was critical, but it's worth a try. And good to keep an eye on old permissions.

I suddenly have similar issue, And yes your solution works too, but that’s more troublesome then just hit open in button. So I try to find the way, so I reinstall all app and clear caches. For the reference, even after I reinstall 365, it still ask to install Microsoft excel also when I try to open excel file in dropbox. Anyway I reinstall and link Dropbox and office 365 to related account. And link Dropbox account to office 365. but I was getting same error and cannot open file.
Then I realised I didn’t link dropbox to Microsoft excel app which is different than office 365 app on iPhone. So I go to excel app and link dropbox then now it’s working fine.

I have the same problem on my iPad, but not on smartphone that works on Android, so maybe the problem is Apple, (again) 🙄

Hey all, thanks for your reports.
I just wanted to mention that due to a recent update from Microsoft, you'll need to ensure that only 1 Dropbox storage account is connected at a time on your mobile device in order for the integration to work properly.
We're actively working with Microsoft to improve the user experience with this integration.

Any progress on this issue? I've also experienced it for the last few weeks.
Thanks.
