Dropbox unstable in iPad OS Files App.
The problem I have is that Dropbox seems to crash when running on an iPAD via the apple files app. If I open an application that uses the files app, such as Pages or Final Draft, when saving to the D...

We recently upgraded the syncing experience between the Files and Dropbox and it should be more reliable now. Ensure that your Dropbox app is upgraded to receive the full benefits of this experience!

4 years agoHey everyone, happy Monday!
You asked, and I heard you. I am here and ready to help! It seems a lot of you are still experiencing this issue or similar ones.
Instead of troubleshooting all of you here, I think it would be a better idea for us to switch to emails.
Can you try submitting your ticket here while you're being logged out from your Dropbox account? Once you do, reply back to me and let me know your reference number, so I can locate it on our system and take it from there.
If any of you face issues while trying to do so, let me know.

Hi I opened a ticket at the link above, #15980101. I think I was logged in however, I didn't understand the part where I needed to be logged out before submitting a ticket? It seemed to have worked.

The first thing I saw at the link was a login request, so how do I proceed not logged in? Also not clear to me how to submit a case. All I see are the self help and community links.

Reference # 15981452 for the freezing issue
- ae6dx004 years agoExplorer | Level 4Ticket #15985410
- ChrisC814 years agoExplorer | Level 4I submitted that ticket yesterday and was contacted by another agent last night. I explained why I opened a ticket and link to this forum. I got a notification this morning that the ticket was closed. Was there a point to doing that??
- ae6dx004 years agoExplorer | Level 4I got a reply to my ticket from Samantha saying clear Dropbox cache uninstall restart and reinstall. So far working fine but usually takes a bit to fail.
Megan are you still monitoring this? - ChrisC814 years agoExplorer | Level 4Did all those steps too, failed constantly today while working.

Thank you all for providing me with your ticket numbers!
I'll definitely keep an eye open on these cases, and we'll continue working on this there.
Keep me posted. - Andrew554 years agoHelpful | Level 5There are reports of an iPadOS bug that causes some applications to malfunction (freezes, crashes). A workaround is to go into the Accessibility settings and turn on Full keyboard access. I haven’t seen the problem since I did that, but I have not made heavy use of Files yet.
- Andrew554 years agoHelpful | Level 5Yes, I have only experienced the problem with a Bluetooth keyboard attached.

I’m experiencing the same issue. On ipad pro, the files app freezes when opening dropbox files. Very annoying! Is there any news?
- RSukie4 years agoExplorer | Level 3
This has been going on for over 6 months with more and more people having to deal with this problem and there seems to be little in the way of effort to actually fix it other than asking people to submit cases. I personally ended up moving to use iCloud for my needs as it works ALWAYS. However as my team continues using Dropbox, I end up having to copy anything over from Dropbox to iCloud using my PC so I can reliably access it from my iPad. The Dropbox integration with the Files app is clearly broken and anyone can reproduce the problem in a matter of a minute or so by loading files. Please get it fixed!

Sure!

I’m sorry to report that the latest update of the dropbox app did not fix the problem.
I also suspect that apple is to blame as well, because they are making the life of every repository other than iCloud impossible these days.

Meghan, here is my ticket
Ticket #21247215: Dropbox Support Chat
my email is [email removed as per Community Guidelines]
I have all the same frustrating issues and have tried deleting the app and reinstalling, no help. Anything you can do to help resolve this. If I can’t resolve it, I will need to use another storage app. This is so difficult to use to work.
thx you,
Deborah

Hi @Dfmountainside, thanks for writing to me!
I was able to locate your ticket number, and it seems that you have one more active email with our support agents.
You were sent some steps to check for the device in question. Please, keep responding to the agent, in order for them to be able to assist as much as they possibly can, and investigate further.

I've also had this same thing happening for a couple years, on both an older iPad Pro as well as a new iPhone Pro. Both are running the latest OS. No, I'm not submitting a ticket. There's plenty of other replies here that have already explained well enough what is going on. It happens all the time when you try to interact with Dropbox via iOS' native Files app.
If anyone at Dropbox really wanted to fix it, they could easily replicate the issues just by using their own app for a day in iOS and try manipulating some files via the Files app. Try moving, copying, etc. It really doesn't take much to trigger the issues, and often times once it starts, it can only be resolved by deleting and reinstalling the Dropbox app.
