Excel files missing data after a Dropbox update and cannot find it in version history

To be honest, if you cannot find the version of the files you want in your Dropbox version history, it probably means that the updates you made to the files never synced to your Dropbox account.
Is it possible that the Dropbox app wasn't running or had a syncing issue before the update? That would explain why your updates weren't syncing.
In any case, I'd suggest looking into it from Excel's perspective and see if you can locate your missing content from their version history.
