Are you having this issue only when opening files saved to your Dropbox? How about other MS Office files saved in other places on your device?
If it's just Dropbox, can you try to clear out the Dropbox app's cache, from the option in the app's settings, to see if that helps?

Can you clarify the version of the OS that you have installed, along with the version of the Dropbox app, please?

Hi, I’ve got the same problem & I know of at least 5 other people with the same issue on various ipads & iphones. Deleting & reinstalling dropbox did solve the issue for 1 person but it returned within a few minutes.
Android devices don’t seem to be effected.- On iPhone

Hi everyone, could you try installing the main Microsoft Office app to see if this helps, instead of the individual Word and Excel apps?

Nothing change after office installation still Dropbox app ask for office installation and after it still ask for it.- Still the same issue after the Office install.

Hi, I’ve also tried the MS app but didn’t help.
I have a friend who is still running iOS 15.3.1 on ipad & so far doesn’t have a problem with opening spreadsheets in excel.This is a problem for us too - can't open Excel files through Dropbox - asks to install the Excel app which is already there. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing Excel to no avail. As suggested above, installing the Office app - it still goes to Excel Install
Very annoying- we use this daily across multiplpe devices and worksites for sharing info!
Needs a fix ASAP
