Any update on this? I got my IPad Pro to serve as a laptop substitute. The missing functionality undermines that goal, in addition to being really frustrating.

Just adding my comment to let the Dropbox team know that I have same issue. Been like it for years. Ridiculous really.

Same here. For this very reason I don't use Files app but the dropbox app instead.

But DropBox doesn't have a way to favorite folders you frequently use or tag them. So, not a great solution. Starring a folder/file puts it in your home section but that's not available when you want to save things to DB. So, just using DB not an elegant solution for me.
