iOS Files App Favorites Folder Disappear
On both my iPad and my iPhone, when I mark a folder from Dropbox or any other cloud service as a “Favorite”, it shows up in my favorite list in the Files app, but if I switch apps or close the files ...

Same problem. It's just quite unpleasant that the files integration hasn't been given full functionality by Dropbox... why is this when one of the reasons DB is the leader is precisely its ability to handle cross platform without flaw. This is their core business so it would be nice if they answered this.

Basically I need to unfavorite a folder within the files app. Right now it doesn't work. This is a real bummer as I need this functionality in order to take full advantage of the files app. If we don't get a fix I'll have to shift my work folders around to another service such as google drive.

Favorite. Unfavorite. And basically be able to do all that the app can do when using it with its Dropbox folder. Thanks.

Guys what other service do you use that does the job better ? I have them all but use mostly Dropbox. Seems iCloud is not cross platform. OneDrive limited in functionality. So is google drive the next best option as clearly everyone has a google account and it would work when sharing with most people ? If this issue isn't resolved for my renewal date I'm off Dropbox.

wow - I read through 7 pages of comments and it's amazing this issue has been around for years. It hasn't even been a week with my iPad Pro and discovered this issue- I agree it is quite reproducible and visible enough to new users, it should be fixed from a PR perspective if anything!
It sounds like at one point, OneDrive had the issue and it sounds like from posts here in this thread, the issue has been fixed by Microsoft in a timely manner. I think we are all frustrated Dropbox has not done the same.
To the powers to be at Dropbox, why not provide an status update or at the very least, help us understand why fixing this bug is not a priority or why it is so challenging to fix in a timely manner? I think people would be less upset.
Given how happy many of us have been with Dropbox all these years esp with the cross-platform support, we'd love to stay. You're clearly testing our patience. I surely hope I don't end of up waiting another few years!
Guillaume DXB if you do hear of a cross-platform solution between iOS, Android, macOS, Windows, and Linux, I think many of us are eager to try it.

Given the lack of reactivity of Dropbox on this one... I'm thinking to switch as well. Leaning towards Kdrive, which at least works on Mac, Windows & iOS. Not sure about the others.

I have been having the same issue for years. How is it possible that dropbox has been unable to provide us at least with an explanation? Let alone a solution. Does anyone have a workaround such as folder shortcuts to Dropbox-folders on the homescreen?

Maybe instead on voicing this issue on their business forum. We should create a public page and make the issue more known?

I tweeted at Dropbox this morning, and got faux concern and no response.

This situation is just insane. If we want Dropbox to do or at least communicate about this issue, we have to contact youtubers and spread the word.
- 0umar6 years agoHelpful | Level 6
By the way, I guess there are still a lot of people who work at dropbox and who have an iphone or ipad. They don't mind having their own buggy software on their devices. lol

I have already raised the issue to a YouTuber named HotShot Tek, to see if he wants to do an episode on it. He does videos on iPad Pro pretty regularly.
- Michael E.326 years agoHelpful | Level 6Thanks CaptSpalding. Some sort of public pressure is the only that will work, if at all. We’ve been getting platitudes like the recent one from Daphne for over a year just on this thread.
- Guillaume DXB6 years agoHelpful | Level 6Ya it’ll be google drive for me I think. Works perfect with the files app. I still can’t comprehend the lack of interest of Dropbox on this.

I work a lot with the files app and this issue is so annoying, only happens with Dropbox. I am a paid Dropbox subscriber but I think I won't renew in a couple months and move to iCloud or google drive, this is too annoying and Dropbox takes no time to actually understand the issue and try to fix it.

i really hope theres a fix coming?

Not good enough.
We have been getting the same song and dance for a year and a half. No explanation. No description of efforts made to solve the problem.
Basically no respect for your customers.
I'm looking for another provider, and I will leave a review on all iPad listservs that Dropbox is incompatible with Files App, and that no Apple user should consider them for a cloud solution.

It's an issue for me as well. Please fix this annoying bug Dropbox!

Yes, I was hopeful, but alas...no fix. Once I have time, I'll switch my company to OneDrive. I already "pay" for that through my Office365 subscription. So, that move will save me $25 per employee. It's one thing for them not to fix this for "free" customers. Entirely enother for business subscribers...

This is still a problem in iPadOS 14, I can't believe this :slight_frown:
Even if the responsibility is shared with Apple because this takes place in the Files app (doubtful because other third-party sync services don't have this bug), Dropbox should have reported this bug every single day to Apple during the beta period !

Amazing to read through this thread. Paid Dropbox user for years and suffered through this problem, but I never imagined that it had been pointed out so often and so clearly to the company. Fix it!

Been putting any transition off, but I just moved a ton of files over the OneDrive to try it out. I understand they don't have this issue.
