Hi gogettervj, I've merged you to this post, please could you try the troubleshooting above to see if this issue persists in other apps or different file types?

I usually attach pdf files from gmail. It used to work in the past but not now.
On the other hand, I open a pdf file or select few files from one folder on dropbox, then click share, it works perfectly.
- Me4202 years agoHelpful | Level 5Yes, we can attach files sharing from Dropbox or other folders. Just not Gmail.

Hey gogettervj and Me420, thanks for the additional info.
Can we send you an email, so we can look further into this?
- Me4202 years agoHelpful | Level 5Sure. Google's special team look into it, however they're never gave me a solution either. I'm about ready just to get rid of this Google Pixel.. Don't get me wrong, this Google pixel 6a and all the ones previous were able to attach files just recently started having a couple months ago and nobody at Google has a solution.

Hey Chuck C.9, sorry to hear about this.
Could you let us know the OS version of your device and the version of the Dropbox mobile app installed there as well?
Also, could you clarify what happens when you tap on the attach button within Gmail and select Dropbox?
- SM1192 years agoHelpful | Level 5I cannot attach any files to my emails from dropbox. I'm using a pixel 6 pro and Gmail.

Hey SM119, sorry to hear about this.
Have you tried clearing your Dropbox cache, to see if that helps?
- SM1192 years agoHelpful | Level 5Yes I have. This occured after a phone update. Now I cannot upload to any app directly from Dropbox. I have to save files and images to my phone and then upload.

Thanks for the update here, SM119.
Can you check that you're on the latest version of the Dropbox app, and that you have at least 500 mb of free storage on your phone for the app to work correctly as well?
- SM1192 years agoHelpful | Level 5Yes and yes

Hi SM119, sorry to jump in here!
Can you clarify what happens when you tap on the attach button within Gmail and select Dropbox?
Also, can you please confirm exactly what program you are using to access your emails. Is it the Gmail app, or the Gmail site?
- Me4202 years agoHelpful | Level 5I using the Gmail app on my Pixel 6A phone. I hit the little paper clip in the email and go to the drop box option, search for a folder and then find the file and click on it. The file briefly shows up underneath the body of the text in the Gmail app and then says "cannot attach file". I can go to the Dropbox folder and share to the Gmail app. However, I cannot keep the same thread in the Gmail going because I cannot attach files from Dropbox when needed. I hope this helps. Thank you.
- SM1192 years agoHelpful | Level 5What this person said. It's the Gmail app.

Thanks for letting me know Me420 & SM119!
Can you send me a screenshot of the error you get on your end, in order for me to have a visual too?
- Chuck C.92 years agoHelpful | Level 6Right now it's a "He said, She said" battle. Dropbox blames Gmail who blames Samsung who blames Adobe. Someone needs to just take the bull by the horns and do the Right Thing for the customer, and no one will until it starts hurting their reputation or their sales.
- SM1192 years agoHelpful | Level 5For a brief moment the attachment shows successful then it disappears and says failed. That's it. Nothing to screenshot unless you're the flash.

Hi all, I just wanted to mention that the team are aware and looking into this.
In the meantime, you should be able to send files via email from the share option in the Dropbox app.
- Spcookie2 years agoExplorer | Level 4
sharing the file, is just tht, sharing the enture file, I just want to share the document. The whole file is not what I want to send. Does anyone have any idea when this will be resolved? It really cuts into my business and time and I am now very weary waiting for resolution.
