The Microsoft files on Windows 11 are prompting for a Dropbox sign in every time I try to open them.
Hello,
I have the Dropbox desktop app installed and every time I open Excel or Word this Login screen appears asking to "Log in or sign up to Dropbox to link with Microsoft Office 365"
Is there a way to disable this?

Hi all,
There's been some progress made on this issue. Here are some new troubleshooting steps while this is being looked into:
- The issue should be fixed for account holders who NEVER integrated their account with Microsoft Office 365 API app.
- If members are still seeing the popup it means that at some point they did login / integrate and then decided to remove “Dropbox For Teams” from MST Office.
- Members that did integrate at some point with the API app and later decided to remove integration, should go to https://www.dropbox.com/account/connected_apps and manually disconnect Microsoft Office 365 app. See attached screenshot.
- Member needs to wait 2 hours and restart a desktop app after disconnecting an app.
This is still being looked into but hopefully this should help some of you in the meantime.
I've flagged all of these cases internally to be looked into.

Everyone - PLEASE READ THIS IF YOU USE DOCUMENT LINKS IN EXCEL AND WORD -
This problem is more than just a pop-up. My firm uses document linkings regularly with our dropbox files (we link a word doc to an excel file so that data in the excel file flows into the word doc when updated) and connecting dropbox to Microsoft 365 screwed those files up and made the linkings stop working, but ONLY when Microsoft 365 was connected to our dropbox accounts. Here's what I did to confirm this:
- Logged in when the prompt appears.
- Opened a linked document
- See a notification that says "this document contains links..."
- Hit "okay"
- Get an error saying the links are "corrupted or no longer available."
- Went to file > account > connected services > disconnected dropbox from Microsoft 365
- Opened file up again
- Links are working again.
- Annoying pop-up is back. Back to square 1, but at least our document links work again.
Just thought I'd post a quick comment to save someone else hours of frustration and fruitless efforts. Hopefully this will be addressed by Megan as well. I tried to reply to her comment to mention this, but it looks like I was unable to type anything in the box when trying to reply.

This is quite a big issue, Dropbox. Appears all of us are experiencing this new just this week, so please, revert any changes you made on your side. Beyond obnoxious problem to have. None of the solutions offered fix it.

This is also happening to me. It's extremely annoying, it's very clearly something that Dropbox did since it's affecting so many people so recently, and it's very obnoxious the way the support here refuse to acknowledge it as such.

This did not resolve the issue for me, unfortunately.

Only quitting dropbox solves it, which is not ideal. I also submitted a help desk request and will post solution, if we get there.

It is also happening with Windows 10!

Confirming that the issue is still occurring in 232.3.5840.0
First diagnostic on this machine is just to try and check the "Show dropbox in Microsoft Office as save location", which causes a crash (assuming because we have it turned off in Admin Console?)
As well as being prompted to sign in on every single file.
Any update on this dropox team? An Eta to tell clients?
