Dropbox Professional vs Essentials plans

Hi!

I'm getting confused about the Professional vs the Essentials plan.  On the Dropbox site it says for either plan that it's more advanced than the other. That couldn't possibly be true?

It seems both are priced at 199 USD per year. So which one is actually better and is one fully contained in the other?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Its going to depend upon what you want really.... Essentials is more aimed at Business users and Professionals is home users.

So I moved from Professional to Essential as I wanted access to things like Sign and to be able to edit PDF's etc.

Thanks for the information. Sounds like each has distinct features then instead of one containing the other plus extras? Do you know if there’s an overview comparing both? I find the wording professional/home vs essentials/business aren’t helping much.

    Cheers.

  • Good question there! yes both plan offers the same price and some features, the difference of both plans is that Essential plans offers unlimited eSignig with 5 templates however the Professional plan don't offer those features.

You can view Essentials via https://www.dropbox.com/plans#all-features but I cannot for the life of me work out where Professionals is!

In fact if I go to https://www.dropbox.com/en_GB/pro and try and buy it takes me to Essentials....

suspect Pro isn't purchasable anymore - or its been merged in to Essentials.

I know when Essentials came out it was more expensive that Professional and a mid-step between Plus and Essentials.

If I click on the first link, I only get to see Professional and nothing about Essentials. It does say somewhere else that Essentials has everything from Professional plus the features you mentioned. If both come at 199 USD, why would anyone want to get Professional? And why did Dropbox make it so confusing?

Yes, but here it says Essentials offers everything from Professional plus those things on top.

Hey funkhauser - thanks for the feedback on this. I've passed it on to the team internally and you can let us know if you have anything else to add.

In the meantime, note that what you see at checkout is the plan you'd be signing up for, if you proceed. Also note that the Essentials plan is now the Dropbox Professional plan with e-sign features or the old Dropbox One plan.

I hope this helps a tad!
