Will I lose my files if I cancel my account?

I have a basic Dropbox account. I want to cancel my account.  I don't understand what happens to my files when I cancel my basic dropbox account.

Will my files revert to the hard drive automatically?

Will I have to do something to retrieve or save my files back to my hard drive?

Thank you

  • Hey mecanico, thanks for reaching out today!

If you have a Dropbox subscription that you're going to cancel, your files will stay in the account.

If however, you mean that you're going to delete your Dropbox account entirely, then your files will be deleted along with it.

They won't get downloaded automatically to your hard drive, but you can download them manually from our website before deleting the account.

Let me know if you have any questions.
