"You are not allowed to make this purchase" when upgrading from Essentials to Business
I've ran out of space on my Essentials account (4TB, I bought 1TB extra) and would like to get more storage space. I figured that if I switch to business account I'll get 9TB of space, which is worth the extra money for me. But when I tried to make the purchase I got the "You are not allowed to make this purchase" message. What could be the reason for that? Some more additional info: I'm paying with an US issued Master Card. My current storage is 100% full, so I can't upload any more files.
Could it be that since with business account you get 9TB for the team of 3, since I haven't invited any team members yet, I effectively get only 3TB of space? And that's why it wouldn't allow me to switch plans, because currently I'm using all 4TB?

Hi Aaron98
You should be able to upgrade regardless of how many team members you have.
However, you can only do it if your current plan is done via the website and not an App store or mobile. Could that be it?

Yes, it is done through the website, and I'm trying to upgrade also using the website

I'm thinking out loud here so could be wrong but I wonder if the issue is your add on of the 1TB extra space - sometimes Dropbox blocks you from upgrading if you'd be 'worse off' in its eyes if you couldnt take something with you to the new plan.
I'd suggest contacting support tomorrow when they are open and see what they say/suggest 🙂

Oh, this actually makes sense... Ok, I'll get in touch with them then
