Another helpful one would be this one. However, to jump right into this, would you mind clarifying more about the emails and SMS you're talking about?

Are they coming from an official Dropbox domain, or not?

No, not from Dropbox, am just saying that sharing of user data to third parties leads to that. And thanks to the forum, I now know the stand of Dropbox concerning data security.
