Emails from no-reply@dropbox.com

Questions about receiving an email "via dropbox" with a sender ID of no-reply@dropbox.com.

I received an email with a current "send" date and time with

instructions to open a pdf document, delivered with this email.  It required a sign-in and password from my email account to see the document.

The strange part is the message was from an attorney that I had a relationship over 35 years ago. Yes, the attorney is still practicing. My questions are how does one send an email "via dropbox" if possible.

Secondly, this email did contain real ID's and email addresses of the sender and the recipient (me).

I havenpt called the attorney to see if he sent it yet.  I am more concerned on how you send and what is required to send an email "via dropbox"

Any clues on this?

Hi RCNET, thanks for messaging the Community!

It's possible that this was a shared file from Dropbox.

Another possibility is that this wasn't a genuine email. Could you attach a screenshot showing the email you received, while hiding any personal info, in order to determine this?

This will help me to assist further!

    Hello Jay,

    Here are some images...

    #1.  The opened email.
#2.  Clicking on the One Dive window to "get document"
#3. Ending up in DropBox with a "shaded" screen and a sign in to my Microsoft acount, I suppose my email.
BUT...when my acutal microsoft email account is entered...I get an error message as you can see that can not find that account.
So... I went to another window and signed into my microsoft account and it works fine.

    Thanks for this info, RCNET.

Did you get a chance to reach out to this person, to see if they did share that file with you?
