How to use more than one Dropbox account on a single computer?

Quick question — is it possible to run two Dropbox accounts on the same computer without constantly signing out or making separate user accounts? I’m not super technical, just want personal + work available without cluttering my disk — what do people actually do?

I tried a few different methods, like adding multiple accounts through the Dropbox settings and using other programs to manage accounts. For now, I’ve been mounting Dropbox as a drive, which makes it easier to work with multiple accounts at once. It’s been the most convenient option so far. Thank you cassaperk

I wanted the same thing once — personal + work Dropbox on one Mac without signing in/out all day. Short version: the easiest routes are using the desktop client for one account and the web for the other, or creating a second OS user/VM so each account has its own Dropbox instance. Another simple trick is separate browser profiles (Chrome/Firefox profiles) for quick web access to multiple accounts without touching the desktop app.

A few extra tips I picked up: use Smart Sync/selective sync so only the folders you need sit locally, move your Dropbox folder to an external drive if space is tight, and test any big moves with a small folder first so you don’t accidentally lose share links or history. If you want everything to appear like drives in Finder/Explorer, some people try cloud‑mount tools (CloudMounter gets mentioned a lot), but no matter the method check where cache and logs go, keep credentials in the system keychain, and do a dry run before any mass transfer.

Yes — but how depends on what you need. The Dropbox desktop client lets you link one personal and one business account at the same time; if you only have two personal accounts the usual tricks are: keep one in the desktop app and open the other in the web browser, use a separate OS user profile for the second account, or mount the extra account with a cloud‑mounting tool (or rclone) if you want it to appear like a drive. Make heavy use of online‑only/Smart Sync or selective sync so you don’t fill your disk, test with a small folder first to check permissions and behavior, and don’t move big shared folders in one go — copy a couple of important ones and confirm shares/version history before doing the full transfer.

Simply put, no it isnt unless one of the accounts is a paid for Business account. If this is the case you can then link a Business and a personal one together.

The only other work around is to have 2 user account log ons to the device and swap between those when needed - so install Dropbox twice, once on each user log on.
