Dropbox Plan Business Are you a Team Member or Admin? Admin Do you have access to the email linked to the account? Yes Are there any devices connected to your Dropbox account? Phone, work laptop Question or Issue Our company has about 200 team members on Dropbox for business, and uses Dropbox File Request function and Shared links a lot for receiving/sharing files etc. from external vendors and associates. A question has come up recently in regards to maintaining our company's SOC2 certification and regards to data protection, does Dropbox has any sort of virus scanning capabilities/malware/phishing/ransomeware scanning/protection for files being uploaded through file requests or throughout its storage systems. Would like to know if there is already any known existing functions on Dropbox, or is there any future plans to this being developed. Microsoft Sharepoint has virus screening/malware etc capabilities so we are also contemplating replacing Dropbox file requests with uploads to sharepoint instead, and are wondering if there is a direct api to link Sharepoint to Dropbox, where files uploaded to a Sharepoint folder can be uploaded to Dropbox automatically. Something else on the side, in Dropbox desktop app, we used to be able to right click a specific folder and create a file request through the options listed, and it would pop up into the browser to create that file request link and the exact folder path would be prepopulated. Currently, I have to right click and view Dropbox on browser, and click create file request on the browser, and sometimes the folder path is not prepopulated, and I have to slowly search and browse through to get to the exact folder path (which is very tedious).60Views0likes2CommentsI accidentally logged in with the wrong Google account on the desktop app

I used Dropbox at a previous job in four different PCs. Once I left that job I remotely unlinked the devices that could access my Dropbox account. Its been now 5 years or so and I can still see the list of unlinked devices with "unkown" remote wipe status or "pending". It has not changed during all these years. I noticed that there is a trash icon next to these unlinked devices. I clicked on one of them and one of those unlinked devices disappeared from the list. See the picture below. *What does this mean? *Could that unlinked device still one day have access to my account? *Is it the same whether I hit the trash icon or not? *Should I hit the trash icon on the remaining devices? Another question: I noticed that the location of these unlinked devices has also changed, the PCs seem to move all over the country. So Dropbox knows their location, but doesnt know if the remote wipeout actually worked. How is this possible? Thank you729Views0likes5CommentsZero Knowledge Encryption
I find that many Cloud services offer encryption during transfer to the service and encryption at the destination. Dropbox does this too. Unfortunately, the keys used at the destination are available to Dropbox. What would make Dropbox unique is if it would offer Zero Knowledge encryption at the client. That way all files are encrypted at the client with the customer retaining the keys. Why is this important? There can be bugs during transfer even if encryption is used (remember the famous OOPS with caches on internet servers offering up unencrypted data?). Also, the government can force Dropbox to deliver user data (or it may be compromised by hackers). Dropbox with Zero Knowledge Encryption would be a market leading solution that would drive a great preference over OneDrive, Google Drive and others. It would be the only way I would be comfortable putting my files on the cloud.Solved2.9MViews187likes33CommentsFile permissions aren't matching online administrator settings
So, strange thing started happening across all of my user accounts on our Dropbox installations on our Mac OS devices. When we go to the Admin Console and then go to Settings >Top-level content management, it gives us the following option: Top-level folder management Choose to allow all team members to create, rename, move, or delete top-level folders in the team space, or restrict it to admins only. We have the setting set to "Everyone". However, when I go to Finder on my MacBook (or on any of my Mac OS devices) and try to create a folder or place a file in the Top-Level folder or delete a folder, we are unable to do so. When I right-click on the Top-level folder, it shows that the file folder is "Locked". When we try to unlock the folder by de-selecting the "Locked" checkbox, it immediately re-locks the folder. However, when we quit the Dropbox App on the computer, and then re-launch Finder, we can change the permissions and unlock the folder. But as soon as we re-start the Dropbox App, the Top-level folder once again becomes "Locked" and no changes can be made to that Folder.491Views0likes5CommentsDropbox caches my system password, how do I clear it?
I installed dropbox a while ago and foolishly gave it the system password when it asked. Now I would like to clear it out, but I don't know how. I have uninstalled dropbox, and removed every folder and item with "dropbox" in the name under my user account's Library folder (except for the actual Dropbox files). I removed dropbox from Accessibility permissions and from being a login account. I rebooted and verified dropbox was not re-added. I looked in the keychain for items containing dropbox and found none. When I install dropbox again, it does not prompt me for my user account password OR my dropbox account password. Yet somehow it adds itself to the Accessibility permissions anyway and is logged into my account. That indicates to me that it is caching both of my passwords somewhere. I am fine with caching my dropbox password, but I absolutely am not fine with it caching my MacOS account password. Where is the cache and how do I remove it?Solved665Views0likes3CommentsCan't log in to the Dropbox site or app
Problem: cannot log in on my new machine at all. Secondary problem: because I can't log in, I, a paying customer, cannot request support. Because it requires login. Steps: - Using my new computer (win 11, new laptop opened for the first time today, all windows updates current) - Install Dropbox app - Login directs to my browser (Firefox) - Go to login page - Login in with correct username/pass - Login page throws strange error about CAPTCHA not being filled out (none was provided) - Try again - Goes to 2FA - Fill out 2FA correctly - Main action button does nothing. No page loads, no JavaScript error, nothing. I can press Enter, I can click it, I can use JavaScript to call an onclick() event on it. Nothing. Also tried: - Same process in Google Chrome - This one doesn't even make it to the 2FA screen. It throws a message about an error with <a href="/some/help/url/I/don't/remember"> in raw HTML, not actually rendered as real HTML - On my secondary computer which is already logged in (I'm using it to post this message), I tried logging in through a private window and the same issue happened. I can't think of anything unusual about my laptop that could possibly be throwing this off. My Firefox and Chrome were downloaded today, fresh from their respective pages. They aren't out of date. I'm not on a VPN, I'm not accessing from an unusual IP, my account is in good standing, etc.1.4KViews0likes3CommentsI cannot sign in in MacBook Air M1 (macOS Ventura)
I cannot sign in on macOS Ventura dropbox app. All previous mac sign ins were successful, I can also sign in into Web and Android. On macOS I get: - if trying to use Google oAuth I am not getting any message, just same login window. App is showing "Waiting to be linked..." - if I am trying to use password, it shows "where was a problem completing your request". And dropbox quits.Solved1.4KViews0likes4Comments
