I joined a Dropbox team and now all my files are shared with them
I joined a professional team and it gave them access to all my personal folders and files. I didn’t realise that joining a team would do this, I assumed my folders would still only be accessible by m...

10 months agoHi RPGRAT, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
When you join a Dropbox team, you get the option to merge your account there, or to create a new account and keep files under a separate email address.
It sounds like you chose to merge your account, which means that the team admin now technically owns your account and all files within, including the option to permanently delete files.
I'd recommend contacting the team admin directly to ask them to convert your account back to a personal account away from the team using these steps.
If you need any further assistance, please let me know.

I have also been invited to join a Team.
Why would this option not be the other way around? Surely it's easier to start a new team with a new account/spin off email from your current pro account instead? I can't seem to see an option for this though.
Can you help, as I have lots of websites linked to updraft for backups. If I join the team invite and click 'yes' for a new account email and password, will I then have to change all the admin details for those websites, along with other people I have shared files with? Or does everything stay the same, even though I'll need to set up a different email and password for this new 'personal' account?

That is part of the onboarding. You have to almost force it to use the email you are already using to join the team. It asks, multiple times, to confirm you wish to join with your current email.

No. It stays the same the emails just change.
