I tried to log in to my account but a new one was created with the same email.

i tried to log in today to my account but a new one created and all my data are gone! i have emails that i can prove that i had account where people sharing stuff with me! 

i don't want to talk to robots! i want to talk to a human to resolve this! i have lost all my data!!!! 

please help!!

    Hey elenima, let's jump right into this! 

    It indeed sounds like a new account was created when you tried to sign in. Keep in mind that you can only have one Dropbox account linked to one email address.

    Is it possible that your old one, with all the data in it, was under a different email address?

    If not, then would you mind clarifying when was the last time you accessed the account online? Also, just to check if this is indeed a new account, or not you can always have a look at your events page.

    If it's empty then it's most likely brand new.

    Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

    hello Megan 

    yes it's empty! it's a brand new account! it's long since the last time i sign in to my account but i had important files in it! i can prove that i had one with stuff in it with the emails i was receiving when people were sharing files with me!

    Hey elenima, you mentioned it's been long since you last logged into your old account.

    I'm thinking: is it possible that it was deleted due to inactivity? If that's the case there's not much that we can do on our end about this.

    why Megan where does it say that our accounts with data in will be deleted after some time we didn't log in? it might be one year. where does it says that it will be deleted? i didn't receive any email or sth! this is ridiculous

    Megai don't think that this could be the issue. i had a look again and i have not received any email saying that my account will be inactivated. dopbox's regulations say that i will be notified if that is the case. in addition to this it should not be more that 12 months after my last log in & i am sure about it because 9 months ago i had to do some work with the files of dropbox.

    Hey elenima, did you maybe have another account linked to your old Dropbox account?

    If you have any other email addresses, feel free to check there for any Dropbox emails.

    Is it possible that you have any linked devices to that account too? Just to see if you can check there, and get re-directed to the account itself.
