I'd like a feature that allows me to secure a folder of files with a password for extra protection.
It would be a great idea to implement an extra layer of protection to be able to hide certain files or be able to lock them with a set password within the app since I experience multiple users on multiple machines of mine being able to access most of the files. Therefor I would really benefit from a folder I can lock with my personal password and therefor hide sensitive information or files that should not be accessed by other users but me. I would suggest calling it something like Vault or Hidden Files. This could also be done via integration through the apps, let people decide if they want to install the vault feature or not.

Hello BullseyeBE,
Dropbox actually used to have a feature just like you described, called Dropbox Vault. It has been recently discontinued.
Hope this helps,

Hey DBoxTips,
I am aware that his feature used to exist therefor I am posting it in ideas so that they might bring it back.
Thanks either way.Kind regards, Bullseye

That makes sense. I upvoted your idea because I loved and used the Dropbox Vault feature myself.
Thanks,

Hey BullseyeBE! Welcome to our forum.
We understand how a feature like Vault would fit your needs, so thanks for posting this here and for taking the time to share your idea with us.
All private files stored in your Dropbox account, unless explicitly shared, can only be accessed by you. If your account with your credentials is linked to a device that's not accessible solely by you, we'd highly suggest you unlink it with these steps. Please also make sure to check out this article on how to keep your Dropbox account secure.
Other than that, I’ll make sure your input has been passed on to the appropriate team for their awareness.
Let me know, if there’s something else you need though.

They wont. Sadly.
Dropbox have never, ever, reversed a decision they've made once its been announced - and thats from experience of being around since it was in Beta :(
Sadly....!
Instead I think it would be better to consider alternatives (there were a few suggestions recently on a similar thread).

I'd be very disappointed if they decide to not reverse that decision, I might even need to change to another supplier that can fulfill my needs then. Let's give them some time to review my comment first.

Please do inform the right department, I really need that extra layer of protection for my files. My other option now is to encrypt a lot of files and decrypt them when needed and this takes ages, dropbox vault had really sped up that process for me

I am looking for something similar. When I pass, my executor will have access to all my accounts in order to manage my estate. I would however like to have one place in dropbox that has an extra layer of security (a separate password) for the things I want to take to the grave with me.
