Signing into old account and avoiding authentication to change email

Need help, Im trying to log into an old account that uses an email address that's no longer active. 

 

I know the email and password to the drop box however it keeps asking for an authentication code that i cant access due to the email address not being active. the email is an old Hotmail that cannot be re-activated. 

 

I use dropbox help bot and it says to immediately change email address when signed in, however i cant get past the authentication stage, any one know how to get pass this?

    You can try contacting Support, but without access to the email account, it's unlikely that you can gain access to the Dropbox account. You need to maintain an active email address on your account so you can receive password resets and one-time security codes used during sign in.

     


    To contact Support, visit the Support page while you're NOT signed in to a Dropbox account, including these forums, and you'll see an option for sign in issues. It's best to use an Incognito or Private browsing session to make sure you're not signed in.

      Thanks Rich, 

       

      I've place in an email, hopefully they can get back to me, I believe the phone number associated with the account is the same. fingers crossed I can get authentication through that if not its ridiculous you cant get access to something that's yours. I could probably describe whats in the drop box...
