Thank you for being a valued Dropbox Capture user. After careful consideration, we’ve decided to discontinue Dropbox Capture on March 24th. Please note that you’ll still be able to use the screenshot tool through the Dropbox desktop app.
After March 24th, you will no longer be able to create new screen recordings, audio clips, GIFs, or videos using Capture. The Capture desktop app—and Capture via web access—will no longer be available.
Good news: We’re continuing to add new screenshot functionality within the Desktop app. On March 24th, you will be able to use the screenshot tool to capture the exact part of the screen you want to send. You will be able to add extra emphasis to your screenshots with text, shapes, drawings, and arrows.
We understand that your content is important, so know that you will not be losing any of your existing Capture images and videos. To learn more about this change, please read this article.

Well, I guess it's good to see Dropbox "focusing" on core products but this is still disappointing (and a very short timeline) considering there are numerous features of the Capture app that we were making heavy use of, including the GIF creation and simultaneous screen+camera recording, neither of which seem to have any equivalent within other Dropbox tooling.
Capture's Collections view will also be a loss, since it was an easy way to point folks to a swath of training videos, etc. in a less-cluttered interface that wasn't just "here is a folder of videos to watch" 😕

Amy-- I can't begin to tell you how useful Capture has been to me and my coworkers over recent years. I have been super grateful for this tool! I don't know if we can get a crowd of voices on here to say "don't do away with Capture" to change someone's mind, but I am super sad to see this amazing resource lost as part of the Dropbox system. Please reconsider! :)

Incredibly disappointing. Having moved away fully from other services like Loom because we enjoyed so much the integration of Capture into our Dropbox service and having a lot of tools we needed all in one place, this is very sad news to hear.

I am also very disappointed. I stopped in my tracks when I read the email and cried Oh no! out loud. Dropbox Capture is such a useful tool, especially for project management. Its ease of use in sharing and embedding screencasts for troubleshooting is critical to me. I would most certainly be willing to pay more for the service.

This is very sad news for us. We moved away completely from Loom and it was working great using capture to do screen recordings and create SOPs and trainings. We now have to go out buy Loom again. May be time to revisit if its worth keeping DropBox membership or move to cheaper service solution. Why not reduce subscription price if you are taking out this key feature? What a shame!

I don’t think Dropbox realizes the added value that Capture has consistently provided in many environments. In my opinion, this is a significant step backwards and even a breaking point for customers who will start looking for alternative solutions. It seems unwise to remove Capture, as it will be a huge disappointment for many and will not go without consequences. Please reconsider

I will miss this feature so much. It was so much part of my daily process. Gutted

This is really disappointing, Capture was one of the tools that we used the most on our company, and one things that made us use Dropbox from the beginning, we will search for other storage provider.
