How do you organize design files for a creative project?

Hey everyone!
I’ve been working on a creative project inspired by the 7 Brew Menu and I’m using Dropbox to organize all my design assets, mockups, and images.
I’m curious how other designers or marketers keep their Dropbox folders structured when working on something like a café or restaurant menu.
I want to keep things neat but also easy to share with my client and teammates.

Any suggestions or examples of folder setups that work well for you?

Hi there Eathen cole 3 - thanks for using Dropbox and welcome to our Community!

I'm afraid I don't have much to offer here, but I'll be leaving this thread open for other users to jump in and share their own experiences or use-cases.

Let me know if you have anything else to add or ask in the meantime.

Structure I use for design projects that scales well:

    root folder:

    • 2024
    • 2025
    • etc…

    next folders:

    1. Operations
    2. clients
    3. sales
    4. accounts
    5. admin

(this helps keep sort order without being alphabetical)

    In clients folder

    • client A
    • client B
    • client X

within each client Folder there (and works for all other folders) is a date title formatting structure:

    ‘yymmdd - [folder title]’

I use Dropbox a lot for my creative projects outside of work - album artwork, posters for shows, fliers and press kits. I usually set up folders for Mood Boards/Ideas, Work in Progress and Approved/Final files. It’s really nice being able to compare the early mood boards with the finished designs side by side.

Since I have few projects going at once, I organise everything by show or genre and then sort them by year. That keeps things tidy and makes sharing with collaborators super easy.

I love your set up DaveLyons - I suppose my set up is more suited for personal reflection, but I will defo take inspiration from your tips for the more the files I intend to share with others.

A similar setup could work well for your café menu project too Eathen cole 3
