Picdrop style image review integrated with Dropbox.

We use our dropbox for getting image selects on large batches of images. We find out clients dislike using dropbox for this process (unless they already use DB but most dont) and have been pushing us to use picdrop (picdrop.com) instead as they find it much more user friendly. Annoyingly this means we're then copying our folders into picdrop and then selects back to dropbox.

Id love to be able to have dropbox function like this. it would save us a lot of time and errors.

Would this sore of quick thumbnails style image review be helpful for anyone else: photographers/filmmakers/moodboard people?

I'm wondering why you and your company don't just switch to picdrop instead of trying to convert dropbox into something they clearly don't want to be? picdrop is made specifically for creatives who work with photos, dropbox is not. Why not choose the tool that was made for you?

Thank you for joining in the discussion. This is posted via feature request in a Dropbox forum so not sure we can be so conclusive that this is something they don’t want to do. If it’s something that wouldn’t work for you then I’m interested to hear the reasons why you think it’s a bad idea.

Firstly, I'm just making a request about the selects feature (also used by Kive, Gump, and Lightroom) and I'm sure picdrop does loads more. Our main reason for not using picdrop is that it adds additional processes for us that eats into our time...

No integration with finder or our existing project folders in Dropbox. Therefore we’re duplicating all the imagery just to be reviewed. Its uploading via browser, not copying folder structure, we then have to download the selects, then taking that back into dropbox and sorting selects for the rest of the team who use that imagery for layout/video etc.

Time as the major factor. It slows us down and doesn’t integrate with our team workflow. It is a great tool, but for us its the equivalent of having to drive 10 mins to get the tool every time we want to use it.

Dropbox is already almost there with the comments, its relay feature, and sharing folders with thumbnails, so would this additional ability to have selects directly integrated into your workflow and folders not be a great time-saving feature for Dropbox to have as well?
