We know it’s hard to keep up your New Year’s resolutions, but Dropbox is still working on itself and improving all the time - so here are some updates to keep you in the loop!
To start off, we have a small but helpful navigational update - the help icon has moved to the top right hand corner, next to the search bar, just for easier access.
Mobile request to join teams
Now, when you sign up on the mobile Dropbox app with a work email address, and that company has an existing Dropbox team, you can request to join that team. This means you can easily discover existing teams of colleagues and collaborators. Additionally, it’s now easier for an Admin to simply 'approve' your request rather than adding you manually later on.
What’s new for admins: February 2021
Here are some new features and updates just for admins. Make sure you’re up to date on security and alert updates, and carry on with peace of mind.
PII data classification:
We understand that some data is very sensitive, so now, every file that holds Personally Identifiable Information (PII) will be automatically discovered, scanned and labeled as PII. As an admin, you will be alerted every time an employee is sharing a file containing PII externally, which allows you to take action to reverse that action. At any point, admins will be able to generate a report to view all files labeled as PII.
Updates to alert signals:
Outside of PII, there are some updates to security alerts you will get as an admin. As you know, security alerts is a feature that’s already available to Dropbox Business teams on an Enterprise plan. Admins receive email notifications whenever suspicious behavior, risky activity, and potential data leaks are detected. With this update, you can view details about a specific alert, including who is responsible, what happened, when it happened, and what files, folders, or people were impacted. To view alert details from an email you received about the alert, click Open alert directly from the email. Learn more about what can trigger alerts here.
Alerts
Don’t forget, if you have an idea for new features you can submit it here, or vote for other ideas and they just might become a reality.
