Disable "Suggested from your activity" permanently
Hi there,
I absolutely hate the feature "Suggested from your activity". I would like to see a checkbox in settings that allows a user to disable that permanently and have the cleanest possible view of file(lists) and folders.
The "Suggested from your activity" feature always shows my family photos or, like today, a preview of my tax form. Whenever I open dropbox in the office to browse my files, all my work colleges can see these previews too. The icon that hides it, is only remembering the setting as long as one does not delete cookies from the browser. At our company, it is policy to delete cookies every day at the end of the day. So this "hiding" setting is pretty useless for me.
More over, please make it possible to have a clean, minimalistic UI without all the fluff, super big blue buttons and "easy access" helpers. Some people don't need it. It is distracting and disturbing.

Good news! I noticed in the "Settings" screen that the requested option has been implemented. Go to
- Settings, page "Personal Account"
- Tab "General"
- Section "Preferences"
- Toggle "Suggested for you" off
It seems that this issue has finally been resolved. Maybe this post and all support have helped. Who knows. Anyway, I'd like to thank everyone that have responded to this post and the Dropbox team for listening to its users.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the communications manager still gets a bonus at the end of the year or got one last year. 😀

I completely agree with all of the reasons already mentioned in the previous comments advocating for AT LEAST an easy way to turn this visibility off PERMANENTLY at least at the account level if not the client level. This "Suggested from your activity" feature is not helpful to me in the least and carries with it all of the drawbacks that people have mentioned. This is a very small, simple and reasonable request.
Furthermore, it is important to note that I have turned off this visibility MORE than ONCE already, but for some reason this setting doesn't seem to persist. I'm not sure if it is based on browser or device cache...or due to regular Dropbox updates that reverted it back to the default setting of being displayed, but that is particularly unsettling when you think you have addressed the problem only to have it pop up again without warning.

To "Walter" at Dropbox staff -
What do you mean the idea is "open"? Are there actually people who are arguing for personal photos randomly popping up? (other than developers who think this is some cute idea but don't use Dropbox?) Let us know when it actually gets onto the todo list.

You've been reviewing this idea for months. Just undo it. The consensus is it's terrible.

If I browse my personal home made adult photos they are then on my dropbox app, dropbox webpage, mobile app. Who thought this was a good idea? It's ludicrous, fix it.

How can this be still a suggestion 2 years later? To not be able to turn this off is a massive privacy issue, and total insanity in 2025. Just give us a button, it is not that difficult.

Please get rid of this feature. It is annoying and not useful. I know what I want and I can find it myself.
