new dropbox menu should not switch spaces on mac

On Mac Sonoma, the new dropbox menu (pop-down from menu bar icon) switches spaces when invoked. This behavior makes it nearly unusable since it requires the user to manually switch back to the space that was loaded when they invoked the menu, causing the menu to disappear in the process. The legacy dropbox menu does not have this problem (it opens and stays open on whatever space the user is currently on).

Q: When you click the Dropbox icon in the menu bar, does macOS visibly switch you to a different desktop, or does the menu appear on another space or display while you stay on the current one?

A: The menu icon appears on all desktops, but when clicked, it switches to a different desktop and shows the menu there. The only time it does not switch to a different desktop is when you happen to be on the desktop the menu seems to be associated with. There is no setting to associate the menu with a specific desktop, no way to un-associate it or change its association, or to even see which one it is associated with. In the old format there is no association at all (clicking just shows the menu without switching). That's the correct Mac OS UX and matches how all other apps' menu icons work.

Hi. There is not a Dropbox icon in the dock. Launching the Dropbox application simply opens the Dropbox file location within a new finder window (and does not insert an icon in the dock). The issue noted is about the dropbox menu initiated by clicking the Dropbox icon in the menu bar. If you were referring to that, not the dock, right clicking that icon DOES pop down a contextual menu, but there is not an "Options" item the contextual menu.

Thanks for dropping by with this suggestion dfarrellpd

To make sure we’re looking at the same behavior, could you tell me whether Dropbox is assigned to a specific Space in macOS? You can check this by right clicking the Dropbox icon in your Dock, choosing Options, and looking at the “Assign To” setting. If Dropbox is tied to one desktop, macOS may automatically switch Spaces when the menu opens.
