Offline folders switching to online-only after Dropbox for Windows update
After updating to 227.4.4774 on Windows 11 (update to Windows API style) my entire folder started to index/upload/download. Most icons have been stuck in sync for about 5 hours and opening files is triggering downloads even though this whole folder was previously offline.
I have set the default sync state to Available Offline and right clicked most folders to set them to "Available Offline." But even when root folders is set to Available Offline the subfolders are still being set to Cloud.
Internet speed test says about 900Mb up and down.
Root folder:
Subfolders:
Update: it seems like syncing is finished. I still had a few subfolders set to cloud, but this may be because Unreal Engine was holding onto files that I was working in. Setting the root folder to Offline a second time seems to have worked.
So I think everything is working. As a side note, maybe the user should be asked if they want to keep offline files offline when this update hits them so they don't have to redownload everything.
You can mark this "solved." Thank you for the response.

Thanks for reaching out to us, GabeA.
Just to confirm, has the update finished or is it still ongoing?
What do you see when you hover over the Dropbox icon in your system tray?
Let me know and we'll go from there.

Here is what I see on hover. Does "Dropbox is being updated" mean the mean the Dropbox app itself is updating? Or the sync is in progress?

Hi Nancy, this app update is mess. I have the same issue with Dropbox wanting to resync the entire content and all folders switching to available offline. It takes hours to reapply the settings and the desktop app is not very resposive so I have to apply the offline-only setting several times before it kicks in. 3 days later still 250k files to sync.

Sorry to hear that, Peter7519. Out of curiosity, how many files are currently located within your local Dropbox folder?
You can find that out by right-clicking on the Dropbox folder directly, and going to its Properties.

Currnetly there are 260,685 Files, 40,131 Folders

Hi Peter7519, thanks for the info.
After the migration to the new Dropbox for Windows update, it can take a little time for the app to re-index and re-sync the files as needed.
As you have a lot of files in your Dropbox folder, this might take a little longer than expected, so I'd recommend to allow the computer to run and sync the files as needed. It would be better to not mark files as online-only or available offline, as this might lengthen the process.
