Show notification icons on files that have comments
In "grid" layout, display an icon for each file that has comments against it.
Suggested icon - styled similarly to the notification bell icon in the top menu, but shape is a speech bubble. Just like the notification icon shows a red dot when you have new notifications, and a white number within that dot telling you how many new notifications there are, the speech bubble icon should show a red dot when there are new/unread comments on the file and there should be a white number telling you how many new comments there are.
Clicking the speech bubble causes the larger panel to appear on right of screen (as it currently does - at least currently for photos), but that panel should be shifted to the left and a new panel should open beside the file (ie on the very right edge of the screen) that shows the discussion thread for that file. At the bottom of that panel is a data entry area where you may start a new comment.
Importantly, the speech bubble icon should be permanently displayed in the grid view and not rely on the mouseover action.
In the event some users would prefer not to have this new icon displayed, provide a user setting where users may disable the permanent display of this icon. When permanent display is disabled, then the user must mouseover the file in the grid format in order to see the icon (similar to how the star icon only appears when you mouseover a file).
Although I have described desktop here, similar functionality should be introduced to the mobile app also.
