The Dropbox app should have a dedicated backups tab

I hope this message finds you well. I primarily utilize Dropbox to back up my laptop files and maintain a clone copy of my external drive. The service has been invaluable in ensuring the safety and accessibility of my data.

I wanted to suggest a feature that I believe would greatly enhance the user experience: the addition of a dedicated tab within the Dropbox app to view backups. Currently, this functionality is only available through the web interface. Having direct access to my backups via the app would significantly improve convenience, allowing me to quickly verify and manage my files wherever I am.

I believe this feature would be beneficial not only to me but also to many other users who rely on Dropbox for comprehensive file backups. Thank you for considering this suggestion. I appreciate the continuous improvements you make to Dropbox, and I look forward to seeing how the platform evolves.

Best regards,

Jesus E.

The desktop backup application is not working. Dropbox support proposed an "advanced restoration" restore the backup application. I reviewed the proposed steps and do not believe they would achieve the intended result. I am suspending use of Dropbox backup and will not consider using it until the product has a dashboard with carefully organized controls and status displays in one window. Also need integration with the Windows file manager to display an icon for backed up folders and directory trees. It should also be possible to mark folders for backup, remove folders from backup and temporarily suspend backup on a per-folder basis. Also, backup should have the ability to recognize renamed files within a folder.

To be clear, I would not be able to use a mobile app for controlling Dropbox backups.

Backed up folders should be flagged with a status icon like the local/cloud status in the Dropbox folder.  It should also be possible to add or remove folders to or from backup in Windows File Explorer. The Dropbox app window is too small, cannot be resized and remains on top. All bad characteristics. I cannot effectively use the mobile app. Too slow. NEED A Dropbox DASHBOARD with all regularly used controls in one place.

Hi there jesusespinosa - thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on this with us.

Just to make sure I got this right, can you clarify if you're referring to the Dropbox desktop app or the mobile app instead?

Also, what is the OS of your device(s) that you'd like to see this on?

Let us know more and we'll take it from there.
