Dropbox icon on MacbookPro menu bar missing (Monterey OS)

Dropbox icon on MacbookPro menu bar missing (Monterey OS)

I've just bought a Macbook Pro with Monterey OS and had all my data transferred over. It's all working fine but when I click "Open" on the Dropbox icon in the dock, the Dropbox icon doesn't appear in the menu bar. I followed instructions on a previous post and went to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Full Disk Access. Dropbox wasn't there so I added it, and it's got a tick next to it. I then went to Accessibility. Dropbox is there, also with a tick. But this hasn't worked. Any suggestions?

Hi @Duhaussie, and thanks for posting this here!

Out of curiosity, have you perhaps tried the steps provided here, in order to make sure that Dropbox is showing in your menu bar?

Please give them a go, and let me know what happens.

We can take it from there.

Yes, I did go to that screen and tried various things, but I couldn't see anywhere I could add the Dropbox icon to the menu bar.

Hi @Duhaussie, it might sound trivial, but have you tried re-installing the app once again?

If not, can you give it a go?

Sounds drastic, but nothing else has worked so okay. Should I first get rid of the app (ie drag the current one from the Applications folder into my Trash) before I download the desktop app from your site? Or can just redownload it?

Hi @Duhaussie, could you first try reinstalling the app without uninstalling it first by following this link and let me know how it goes?

Okay so progress has been made but I'm not there yet. I installed the app and it went through the process. However the backup got to 3GB and stopped because it ran up against what it thinks is its limit. But I have way more than a 3GB limit. This was never a problem on my old computer. However my old computer didn't have OneDrive. I did see warning to disable OneDrive but I couldn't figure out how to do that. Is that why the back up thinks it's reached the limit?

Is there any chance that you’ve run out of Dropbox space instead?

Can you please send me a screenshot of the error message that you’re seeing?

I haven't run out of space in my DB account. I had plenty left when I was using my old laptop and I've added nothing to my DB since I moved onto this new computer. I have a screenshot but how do I send it to you. I don't see a way to attach it to this post.

Hey @Duhaussie, sorry to jump in but I just wanted to mention that you should be able to attach a screenshot through the camera icon (insert Photos option) within your reply box.

As for the issue you previously outlined, could you check if you somehow backed up files that you already had stored in your Dropbox account?

Do you see the same files on your account's homepage and on this page perhaps?
