Sharing downloaded files

I'm a new Dropbox user, I have the Dropbox app on my personal laptop, me and some of my business colleagues are connected. Today I was deleting a photo from my desktop on my private laptop and this message popped up: "Delete from "Desktop" folder in Dropbox and computer?" Does this mean that all my files, i.e. photos sent via a cable to a laptop from my phone, files downloaded from a web browser and everything else, were automatically shared on Dropbox and visible to all its users, i.e. my co-workers? When I go to the folder in Dropbox with my name on it, it's empty, there's nothing in it, I can't see my private files anywhere in Dropbox. I got scared. I downloaded to my private laptop e.g. my bank statements. I had my private photos on my desktop. Was it all automatically visible to all users? Is my entire desktop visible to co-workers?

Hey @nataliaen1988, thanks for using Dropbox and welcome to our Community!

Could you please clarify if you're part of a Dropbox for Business teams account or if you're all using individual accounts?

Also, were you deleting files from your Dropbox folder? If so, was it from a personal folder of yours or a shared folder perhaps?

Any additional information is more than welcome!
