Lost my desktop files after getting removed from Dropbox Business team

Lost my desktop files after getting removed from Dropbox Business team

Hello, let me explain what happened. I had my own account where I stored all my work files, but they were still linked to my download folder. Now that I've left my job, my account was deleted along with my entire downloads folder. After 5 days, my account was restored by the admins and dropbox, but my downloads folder remains empty - I've lost all my files. As a filmmaker still in school, these files are crucial for my projects. I'm in urgent need of assistance. The 7-day deadline for recovery is approaching, and I risk losing them permanently. Please help.

Hi @Hannah and @Mark,

I wanted to let you know that I managed to retrieve the files from the team’s Dropbox. Fortunately, they were willing to return my files, and I now have all 256 GB of data back. Thank you both for your assistance! I truly appreciate the time you dedicated to helping me.

This will be my final message on here until I encounter another issue, though I don’t anticipate that happening anytime soon. Goodbye for now! 🙂

Hi @EAAman

If they were not uploaded to Dropbox, or, not stored on Dropbox they wont have been recovered. The 7 day deadline is irrelevant now - as the account has been restored. That means everything Dropbox had has been recovered.

Can you see the file upload at www.dropbox.com/events ?

Hi @Mark,

I’ve checked the events tab and unfortunately, I can’t seem to find the file there. It’s possible that the files might be stored in the team’s Dropbox? The thought that they might be lost is quite disheartening.

No, unless you uploaded them actively to another account they wont have uploaded to the Team.

Have you done a search on the computer to see if they are hidden anywhere as it sounds like you were using Dropbox backup?

Yeah, around 200 GB of storage space got away after losing the files. Also when I attempt to restore items from the recycle bin (recycled before the files got deleted), I receive an ‘items not found’ error message. I’ve also searched for these items and maps but was unable to locate them.

Sorry to hear about this, @EAAman.

If you go to your backups page now, what do you see?
