How do I sign in to my Dropbox account if I've made too many login attempts?

I have a problem logging in after I did phone reset.

At first I thought that maybe I am entering wrong password so I did password reset as well but it doesn't help.

I waited for hours but nothing is changing.

I tried to uninstall and install app again but problem still persists.

The three steps sollution that has worked out:

  1. Login to your dropbox account trough the website.
  2. Go to your profile and activate Two Factor authentication.
  3. Try to log again in the device/app you want, After provide the password it should ask for the security code just generated, provide it and you will be good to go.

That's the only sollution so far and was provided by the community, not even the Dropbox support although is a long time subject.

PS: Thank you @Andrew C.

In this sense dropbox support should be more proactive and add a message at the end of the reset password notification e-mail and also to the FAQ.

That would reduce the ammount of tickets open on your side, customers will be self served and the forum won't be populated with long tail and spread messages regarding an issue that could be easily solved.

I am trying to login to my account on my iPad 2 but every time it tells me "Too many attempts. Please try later". I have waited over a day and it still says that. I have tried different accounts, and uninstalled the app and reinstalled. Still nothing. Is there any way to reset this? I can't login with any account.

Exact same problem here. The message, "Too many attempts. Try again later." simply never goes away.

...then several hours later, it mysteriously starts working again.

Same frustrating thing for me.   I got a new phone and got this from the first attempt.   I verified that I'm using the correct password by re-entering it on a normal PC.   There it worked fine.

What is really irritating is that Dropbox gives no indication how long I should wait or whatever.   I do not want to change my password to fix it, because then it means I have to change it on all my devices.   Grrr......
