Ok . so i had no issues w/. my old s5 and the old android on that.. It would consistently send my gallery images to drop box (or i guess drop box would see them almost immediately) then start sending them up to dropbox, and in turn down to my mac on the other side.
Now i have an s10. with the newest android (10)
And it rarely .. rarely gets it right.
Case in point.
I have about 10 pics i took yesterday evening, plus about 6 from yesterday afternoon. I have it set to wait for wifi. I've been home on wifi 18 hrs. it just uploaded.. noticed... synced.. 6 images. 3 from last night .. the other 3 from 24 hrs earlier.
I have .. opened dropbox.. to trigger.. nope. i have tried 'share to dropbox' which will work on a small amount of images (before i get the error to do it the other way) but share to drop box changes the standard file name used by dropbox (which i like) and ends up causing dup images. (ie standard upload is 2020-02-12 19.07.17.jpg, and share would be 20200212_190717.jpg)
So, I'm trying to figure out, what the trick is to get dropbox .. to do its job. and monitor the gallery folder, and send those images to its cloud (so it can then in turn download them to my mac).
android version 10, build qp1a.
dropbox was updated today.
thanks in advance
Hi @ciara - how are you today?
I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with our camera uploads feature on your Android device. Let's see what we can do to fix this now!
As a first step, could you try turning it off and back on after rebooting your mobile and router? Here's how:
Let me know how it goes!
that made me LOL. thanks. yes phone has been rebooted, app has has setting turned off and on again. Heck i think i even deinstalled and reinstalled the app.
Of course just the threat of tech support had it downloading todays images. lol
the error - is not consistent (the only consistent thing is its inconsistent).
Thanks for the update @ciara!
I'm glad to hear it seems to be resolved for now.
If you ever see this happening, please let me know and we'll take it from there.
Have a magnificent weekend!
I Did not say it was resolved.
I said it was INconsistent.
And again this morinng - i took 10 pics.. a hour ago... still waiting for dropbox to realize they are in my gallery.
It has ONCE again done any app update.. with no improvement
Oh, I see now. Thanks for clarifying this for me @ciara.
If you're still seeing this issue, could you forward me a screenshot so I can get a visual too?
While we're at it, does this persist on another wifi network or if you use cellular data?
Let me know when you get the chance and we'll take it from there.
The issue has been going on since Summer 19 . I have tested on many wifi networks - always same issue. I dont use data / cellular as that would use up my data.
Not sure what screenshot i could provide? It does give an error msg (that would be too helpful) it just ignores new images for a random amount of time.
Thanks for the additional details @ciara.
As it's been quite a while since you first spotted this issue, would you like me to reach out to your Dropbox associated email address so we can have a further look into this internally?
Thanks for your patience and cooperation on this @ciara!
I've just sent you a brief message to your Dropbox associated email address to investigate this matter.
Whenever you get the chance, please take a look at your inbox and we'll take it from there.
