My director has spent a lot of time adding her notes to the files in dropbox and without being able to search for specific words in her notes, her work is useless and her time was wasted.
There was no reason to assume that comments would not be searchable.
Adding the ability to tag files and search comments is a no-brainer. Without these features Dropbox is mostly useless. Including this vital functionality to the platform would be a trivial addition for the development team. Every other OS and application has used tags for at least a decade. There are user comments on this Dropbox forum asking for this basic ability dating back at least five years. One of the moderators recently stated that there is not enough user support for this idea?! Dropbox is really negligent and out-of-touch on this obvious issue. Tagging and searching comments are fundamental capabilities of any storage and collaboration service.
Please add the ability to search words in comments. Also, please don't have comments disappear when they are resolved. Would prefer to note they have been acknowledged but leave information in place.
I don't anticipate upgrading to a more expensive plan without the ability to search.
Definitely a need here. The design requires that we open each file to see if it has been commented on. That’s not exactly good system design.
another thing is that there’s no way to tag a team, a group, or licensed users. Every comment must be tagged with every individual’s name. This is a huge waste of our users’ time.
It's kind of insane that this feature was requested over 6 years ago and it is still not implemented. Even just a "comments" pane where I can see all the docs that have comments on it would help. Smartsheet and Google Docs both have this, why can't dropbox??t
