How to set up a dropbox account
If youâre here on the Dropbox Community, chances are you are a Dropbox user or youâre thinking about signing up. Here are some simple tips to get your Dropbox account set up and ready to use. Get everything organized how you like, and know that itâs safe, that you can access it everywhere and you donât have to worry about a lost file again.
Creating your Dropbox account:
This is obviously step one, so if youâve done that already, skip right on down.
If you havenât set your account up yet, hereâs how:
- Create an account on dropbox.com.
- To do that you simply need to type your name and email address (your email address is the username for your Dropbox account), create a unique password.
- Once you click to agree to the T&Cs and finally click Create an account - youâre all set!
When youâre all set up, we recommend creating a Community account too, so you can find answers to your Dropbox questions and chat with other Community members - sign up or learn more here if you havenât already. Donât forget to sign up with the same email address as your Dropbox account, just to keep it all connected đ
Add your files to Dropbox:
Dropbox is the perfect place to keep your files safe and up to date, so letâs get them into your account. To add files from dropbox.com, sign in and click Upload. Choose either Files or Folder and select the ones you want. Itâs that easy!
Backing up:
Weâve all been through the gut wrenching moment of realising youâve lost a file, so here are some tips about backing up your files and your computer. Computer backup lets you back up certain key folders on your computer, such as âDesktopâ, âDocumentsâ, and âDownloadsâ, to Dropbox. Keeping everything important to you safe and synced gives you serious peace of mind. Check out a guide here.
Dropbox Passwords:
Now that youâre set up, you can use Dropbox Passwords, to take the pain out of logging in to everything. Dropbox Passwords is a password manager that syncs across your devices. It lets you seamlessly sign in to websites and apps by storing your passwords securely. The app remembers your usernames and passwords on all your devices â so you donât have to. Learn more about it here.
Camera uploads:
If the last year taught us anything, itâs to make the most of the moments you enjoy, and capture the important ones! Making sure those moments are backed up is important too so here are some tips on how to upload your photos and videos, and how to make that process automatic too!
After that, we highly recommend checking out how other Community members use Dropbox or even how Dropboxers do, like Amelia! What else do you want to know about Dropbox? Let us know in the comments below!
