How can I delete a single photo from a folder?

There's two ways. You can go to the Dropbox folder on your computer and then into the folder where the file resides and delete it from there. Or you can logon to your Dropbox account thru a web browser and delete it from the folder there. Either method will update on all your devices. Depending on your account Dropbox will save that deleted file for a period of time so you can safely restore that file if you make a mistake

there is no delete option from individual photos when you see the photo

No, there isn't. You need to find the file in it's folder. You can't delete photos from the Photos page on the Dropbox website. You need to do it in the main Files section.

While on the Photos page, find a photo you want to delete and click the ellipsis (three dots) that you see when hovering over the photo, and click Show in folder. That will take you to the photo in the Files view where you can then delete it.
