I want to move all my photos/files from dropbox to an external hard drive, remove them from my dropbox without delete any photos by mistake or anything. This is to organize my photos and files properly, so I can use my dropbox as a temporarily back up for my more recent photos which is why I wanted to use dropbox as in the first place! There are several photos on my dropbox that doesn't show in my dropbox-app for my pc but I have a lot of old pictures there and I don't want to delete them, only remove them from dropbox and keep them on my computer. I have approximately 231 recent photos(on my phone) that I can't save on my dropbox because I don't have enough space. But I don't want to upgrade since I don't really need that much space. I just want to transfer them to an external hard drive via my computer. I'm not good in English, but I hope someone understand what I want to do and can help me!Solved110KViews15likes69CommentsCan I delete photos from my phone after uploading them without deleting them from Dropbox too?
Here's the essence of the problem: I have DropBox Pro installed on an iPhone 5s, iPad Air, MacBook Pro and Windows desktop computer. I do NOT want to clog up my iPhone, iPad and MacBook with files from DropBox. I want to simply upload and then delete them from the mobile devices. I'd like to use automatic Camera Upload but when I delete the photos from my iPhone or iPad I do NOT want them deleted from DropBox...as has happened on numerous occasions (most recently when I exchanged a broken iPhone for a new one and then tried to copy content from one to the other and subsequently delete unwanted photos...on the iPhone, not "unwanted" from my DropBox space). So how do I do a one way sync? Keep in mind that after photos appear in the Camera Upload folder, I MOVE them to a different desired location...and when they're deleted from my iPhone, they are still deleted from the new location!Solved133KViews9likes45CommentsError message when deleting folders
I have used Dropbox for years and have never had this problem. I'm cleaning up my files and when I try to delete a folder I get this message: There are too many files in one request. Please retry with fewer files. What has changed? How do I go about deleting my folders?Solved16KViews8likes69CommentsWhy did the location of my Dropbox folder change?
Today I noticed that right clicking on files in my Dropbox folder (the ones pinned to my Finder sidebar) did not bring up the Dropbox menu options. After further investigation I realized that Dropbox had moved my entire directory into /Users/library and displays this message, buried within preferences: This version of macOS requires Dropbox folders to be stored here: /Users/alex/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox I received no notice that this was happening. I have no idea when it happened and I have no way to know what version the files in the new directory are. What a mess! Any advice on how to ensure my files are up to date and if it's safe to delete the old dropbox directory? Thanks everyone I'm on v147.2.4724 of the Mac client on a M1 Macbook with Monterey 12.3.1Solved9.8KViews8likes23CommentsBlank Screen Sharing Link

I accidentally moved my folders today by mistakenly clicking on it. My question is, is there a way to prevent this from happening, like adding a prompt if a folder is going to be moved or deleted? It will prevent accidental moving or deletion of files/folders.Solved18KViews7likes18CommentsDropbox app is constantly creating desktop.ini files - how can I disable this?
As per the title; the latest dropbox is now generating desktop.ini files pretty much as soon as they're deleted (they were recreated only on dropbox starts earlier, so a delete upon startup was all I needed). This is detrimental for me; how can I disable this behaviour? They are pretty meaningless files, too, this is all in it: ■[ . There's also no promise of any solution, ever. This is what you get you bloody miserable user for paying for this product. Best Option: use another product.Solved12KViews7likes35CommentsBulk delete shared links
I just found that deleting all the shared links that accumulate over time isn't that easy. In fact, I have to click on each one's ellipsis and then click again on "Delete". Imagine the fun I had for all those files and folders. May I suggest Dropbox made more use of the concept called "Checkbox", which is widely used in other parts of it's UI.5.6KViews7likes5CommentsDropbox deleted all my files!
No, we didn’t. Now that the clickbait worked, let’s get into the meat of the article. I know there’s a lot of frustration about how ‘Dropbox deleted all my files’. I accept it’s hard to lose files, especially if they’re vital for your business, precious family or baby pictures, or even your favorite cryptocurrency digital wallet. We’ve received emails, calls, and forum threads stating the same as the title. Users are insistent that we did the deletions. However, as other Dropboxers have posted here have said, and while it makes me seem robotic to repeat the same answer, this is the truth: Dropbox does not delete your files, without any user interaction on them. The latter part of that sentence is paramount. If you, or someone else with access to those files, deletes them, then Dropbox does what it’s supposed to do, and syncs the deletion to all devices and users.Solved79KViews7likes22Comments
