Dropbox Backup
229 TopicsHidden Dropbox logs folder is stuck, continually growing bigger, now beyond 300GB
Application Affected (Dropbox app & backup) Device (Optiplex 3060 i5-8500, 16GB RAM, 500GB SSD) Operating System/Browser (if using the web) (Windows 10) Dropbox App Version (if using the app) (236.4.5918) Question or Issue For the past few days, a folder called "log" within the dropbox system folders, specifically "C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Dropbox\logs" is constantly growing and growing.. occupying my entire hard disk! please help.. Not sure if they're at all related, but the following points have recently changed in this computer: 1. I bought a new SSD for backup purposes, which I have set to backup by Dropbox It's 2TB, 900GB of which are occupied, it's connected over USB and it doesn't seem to actually backup.. 2. I removed Avast and installed Bitdefender instead. I was running Malwarebytes and Spybot in parallel, though these have now been removed. I have noticed that the Tray Assistant almost maxes out my CPU use, as well.. Any ideas of how to troubleshoot/resolve this? Many thanks!483Views0likes24CommentsDesktop folders are unavailable and switched to aliases after deleting the Dropbox app on Mac
I had deleted dropbox off of my MacBook because I was having some glitches with my files and wanted to redownload it. I had continued to save files in my folders saved on my computer that had previously been backed up by dropbox. However, today, I found that my Desktop, Documents, and Downloads folder are all locked and are "alias folders". When I click "get info" there is no information on sharing/permissions, and it says that it can't locate the original folder. I can't save anything on my desktop or download the dropbox app either. Please help me recover these folders!91Views0likes6CommentsDropbox backup does not recognize my 2nd and 3rd internal hard drives.
I am trying to backup some folders from my two data hard drives installed internally on my Windows 11 computer. Dropbox isn't allowing me to choose additional hard drives within my computer, only the HDD which is used for installed programs only, no data such as documents, pictures, music, videos, project data, etc. (that choice box is grayed out) This makes backing up the folders that regularly need to be backed up impossible and makes the backup feature useless for me. Any tips on solving this mystery?361Views1like6CommentsFolder Aliases (Desktop, Documents, Downloads) created by Backup not working properly
Device Macbook Pro Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Sequoia Pretty much what the subject says. After an update it seems Dropbox automatically began backing up those folders. I'm fine with that but the aliases DB created aren't working properly. I suspect it's due to the fact that the new backup folder (Mac) doesn't seem to be syncing to the local machine (It's not even listed locally although it is visible on the web). I've looked but can't seem to find a way to sync it. Any Ideas?Solved141Views0likes5CommentsHow can I have my Dropbox folder on an external drive with macOS on File Provider?
What is the deal with External drive support for Dropbox for macOS on File Provider, as described in this article? https://help.dropbox.com/installs/mac-external-drive-support I am on the latest macOS Sequoia 15.0.1 and latest Dropbox client v210.4.4854. I have an USB external drive, AFPS-encrypted. After I go through the steps described in the article - Dropbox is no longer in File Provider mode, and it shows as "ineligible" in Preferences. What I am missing here? The article vaguely mentions this being in "Beta". How do I get this working?1.7KViews0likes18CommentsAbility to grant Dropbox desktop app access to Mac Library system folders
I have files in a folder Library>Audio>Presets that are constantly updated but there is no way to add this folder to the desktop app. The workaround is to copy the folder to another folder to have it uploaded. Duplicating data on the host machine is not ideal. Can we have an option where we can perhaps type the folder location?195Views0likes6CommentsNTFS support on a Mac
Dropbox backup of an NTFS drive attached to a Mac, The Mac can read files on the drive by default, or with an inexpensive driver (like from Paragon Software) can read and write to NTFS drives. I migrated my media machine from Windows to Mac, but my 12 TB media disk is NTFS. Using Paragons driver, It works just fine with Logitech Media server as well as Plex. But Dropbox will not back up or sync files on this disc. Please add NTFS file support to Dropbox for Mac. Community, please vote.1.6KViews3likes4CommentsMACOS 26 Bug..FINER error
After the update, a strange problem occurs. I'm sure I created a folder inside the drop box folder. I can see that it's synced when I look at the sync status. But when you open the drop box folder, you don't see it. Before the problem, the files all open and look good. I can't see the folders I made after the update. So if you want to see that folder Click the drop box icon at the top of your MacBook to move on to the list that appears. 1. When I go into the finder, I don't see all the drop box sync folders 2. If you click the drop box icon at the top of the MacBook rather than the finder and click the location of the file, you will see the sync folder.163Views0likes1CommentAccess Dropbox Backup on Mobile?
New Dropbox customer here. I've signed up for Dropbox backup, and looking to use it to fully replace my Backblaze account. Is it possible yet (or planned) to access the Dropbox backup files from the mobile? Or should I just put everything into the Dropbox folder if I prefer that? Hi all, I'm only backing up an external hard drive with Dropbox Backup. I wiped and reinstalled my Mac (Sonoma 14.2.1) and reinstalled Dropbox. Dropbox has created a new backup of the external drive and has called it External Drive (1). I see my proper backup (External Drive) files on the web. I just want to not have to upload 3.5TB of data and have Dropbox recognize that it's the same drive I've been previously backing up. The name of the external drive has not changed. There's currently a black x on the Dropbox icon. When I click, it says my Dropbox is full and that I'm using 3.5TGB of my 45GB of personal Dropbox space. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Thanks for any help!Solved1.2KViews0likes6Comments
