Upgrade my Macbook Pro from 2018 to a new 2023 Macbook Pro M2. Installed the latest version of DB,, and the app crashes after a few minutes. However, I installed an older Intel version and it r,uns without crashing. I am a paying customer of DB. Tried running the adv reinstall (https://help.dropbox.com/installs/advanced-reinstall), and it installed the Intel version. Which is seems stable. Ideally, I would like to run DB natively. I'm using MacOS Ventura and I can't receive files via AirDrop anymore. My Downloads folder is inside my Dropbox as I'm using Dropbox Backup, so it is all inside the Cloud Library now. The Spotlight Search is broken and now also I can't receive airdropped files anymore. They are sending but afterwards they are just nowhere to be found on the hard-drive. It's quite the mess. @DropboxTeam: It would be highly appreciated if you can expedite looking into resolving the issues on Ventura!Solved21KViews16likes98CommentsBacking up internal hard drives
Hello All, Hopefully I can get some help with this situation that I am having. I have a custom built PC with the following Hard drive configuration: NVME 1 (500 GB): Boot drive (Has the OS installed, Adobe apps, etc) NVME 2 (1 TB): Storage drive (I use this one for games, Adobe cache folders, current work files, etc) HDD 1 (2TB): This is used for my finished work. Once I am done with a project I move all the files from my "NVME 2" drive to here to keep the space open. Now, the problem I am running into is I cannot backup the HDD 1 drive to Dropbox. I see no options what so ever and I cannot find anything online. The only thing I have found is for external hard drives. Anybody run into this issue and figured it out?11KViews4likes21CommentsNew Windows 11 Laptop Installation
Bought a new Windows 11 laptop and activated Microsoft OneDrive. Tried to install Dropbox and received the message you can't backup with one Drive and Drop Box. I tried to stop the One Drive sync of desktop and documents, but this is not possible. I stopped OneDrive from launching but this didn't help. I uninstalled One drive, rebooted and this didn't help. Uninstalled/reinstalled drop box and rebooted this didn't help. Now every time I try to set up Dropbox it's giving the same message "Can't back up to both OneDrive and Dropbox". One Drive is not even installed anymore. Desktop and Documents is the only folders that I'm trying sync. I've lost access to the Desktop, Documents and Downloads file on my mac - help?? I just set up a new Dropbox account with a different email. When it asked whether I wanted to sync/back-up Desktop, Documents and Downloads folders, I said no, because when I did this with a previous account, this caused problems. I thought that this would mean that my Desktop files etc would just remain on my hard drive, and I would have a Dropbox folder with things I wanted to back up to the cloud. But this has caused all the icons to disappear from my Desktop! Luckily the files are still there when I search for them. When I got to Desktop folder in Finder and click on it, a message says 'The operation can’t be completed because the original item for “Desktop” can’t be found.' Logging out of Dropbox didn't help. Hi guys, I've been trying for some time now to stop dropbox from: - asking me to backup every external drive I plug in - littering said drives with .dropbox.device files I've tried everything. Is there a way to turn this annoying unrequested feature off once and for all? Please no answers on the line of "never for this device". Thanks in advance for any thoughts on the matter. pgSolved8.5KViews4likes10CommentsSync icons no longer appear in Finder after upgrading
I recently upgraded to Ventura 13.2 and updated the Dropbox App to V166.4.2920 I am using Dropbox backup. My files are still syncing, but the sync icons are no longer showing up in Finder. I have tried force quitting Finder, and I have also made sure that the Dropbox Finder extension is ticked. But the sync icons are still missing, even though sync is working. I was pointed here to give a suggestion from this thread: https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Dropbox-files-folders/Trying-to-backup-on-Linux/td-p/548352 It would be nice if the functionality was added to (https://help.dropbox.com/installs-integrations/desktop/linux-commands) Some commands like: `dropbox backup enable/disable` and `dropbox backup add/remove /path/to/folder/or/file` Currently the advice is to mount into the dropbox folder (https://askubuntu.com/questions/1366889/how-can-i-use-dropbox-to-back-up-arbitrary-folders/1366896#1366896)7.4KViews8likes8CommentsHow can I make Dropbox sync with an external drive instead of my laptop hard drive?
I just went through the same issue as many others where files were downloading to my laptop even though I had "online only" selected. I just deleted the Dropbox app from my desktop and decided to start over. I newly downloaded and opened the desktop app, and used Selective Sync to only choose some folders to have accessible on my desktop. But now I want to upload some large files from an external drive to Dropbox online, and not have it go through the Desktop because I think it will cause the same storage issue again. How can I direct the web app to sync with this external drive?7.3KViews0likes5CommentsImpossible to access my files (documents, downloads and desktop) on Mac because of Dropbox sync
Hello, In 2020, I worked for a company and I had to download Dropbox on my computer. Since 1 week, I encountered a big issue with my Mac since I can no longer access all my files. For example, when I try to open my file Documents it says ""Documents" cannot be opened because the original item cannot be found.". I called Apple's customer service and after few days of research, it appears that this problem is caused by the Dropbox syncronization. As I understood it, they told me that my files still exist but it's somewhere on my Mac and that Dropbox bloc the access. The problem is that since I have no news form the company and I don't know if it still exist. Therefore I can't access the account I used when I was working with them. Is there someone who had the same problem or is there anyway to contact Dropbox's customer support ? Thank you in advance7KViews1like47Comments
