Dropbox Basic

Hi, I can't seem to get File Explorer to sync. It used to sync automatically but now it is not. I've logged onto the Dropbox page and tried to download the app and that doesn't seem to do anything. I have created a folder on drop box app for my upcoming holidays called "2022 Trip." When I log onto my computer (using windows) I can't find it in my file explorer. They seem to be out of sync. I've read the forums about syncing but I can't see a sync function or menu or button to do this. I've logged onto the drop box web page and tried to find it in settings but can't. I am on the basic free access and still have space. Please help. I'm not very computer savy and I've read through all the community pages but can't see my problem listed.Solved22KViews0likes15CommentsCannot find my selective sync settings
I have looked everywhere on my Dropbox.com account and cannot find sync anywhere. I have found preferences and there is nothing about sync there. I have a colleagues whose screen shows sync under this menu. I have been on Dropbox since 2008. I upgraded the desktop app but don't know if or how I can update the desktop application. Any suggestions? Could she possibly have a paid version if she has selective sync -- but even with the free version I should have sync shouldn't I so I can remove files I don't want to sync Her message: Across the menu bar at the top you should see a drop box icon. Click on it. [Note: this only opens my dropbox - I need to click my personal icon and then I get setting and preferences] Then youâll see an option called settings or preferences. Click on it and youâll see an option that says sync. [Note: I don't see sync option anywhere here] Click on that and look for an option that says âselective syncâ Here you can click only the folders you want.7.9KViews0likes7CommentsChanging Email: says email already taken.

Using Microsoft Edge on a Windows 11 X64 PC I tried to follow the Help Center information related to Unread notifications, but the proposed solution is not the same as what I see when I run through the steps. Started with Google Why does my Dropbox have a red 1? It means that you have unread Dropbox notifications. Learn about how to manage Dropbox notifications. The search sends you to this Dropbox Help Sync icons & symbols in the desktop app - Dropbox Help Center Next DB Help link: https://help.dropbox.com/sync/sync-icons Where it's explained that this is a notification issue Unread notifications A red circle with a white number on it has nothing to do with syncing. It means that you have unread Dropbox notifications. Learn about how to manage Dropbox notifications. This links to "Learn about how to manage Dropbox notifications," which opens a second Help Center article entitled "How to turn on Dropbox notifications" https://help.dropbox.com/account-settings/notified-changes The next link sends you to the article "How to view your Dropbox preferences in the taskbar or menu bar" https://help.dropbox.com/account-settings/view-preferences My Dropbox taskbar icon does not display any type of avatar, and therefore I cannot click "Preferences." I give a more detailed explanation of what I see, which is very different from what the article suggests. Running Win11 X64. When I click on the Dropbox icon on the taskbar, where the red number 1 notification is displayed, I do not see an avatar (profile picture or initials) in the the top-right corner, or anywhere else. The only info. displayed is a list of files and folders synced, an indicator that reads "Your files are up to date", with an option to pause sync for 30 minutes, 1 hour, Until tomorrow or Indefinitely. Lastly there is an Upgrade button. This has been displayed constantly for at least the last 6 months, and I am now trying to find a resolution. Thank you for any advice.Solved5.3KViews0likes2CommentsIs there a way to set the Dropbox folder via the command line?
Hi Dropbox HUGELY EXASPERATING -- NO WAY TO MOVE / SET THE DROPBOX ON-PC FILE LOCN ON COMMAND LINE INSTALLS #Dropbox - presuming you are here, WHY am I having to ask the Community to help with such an OBVIOUS NEED ?????????? #### YOU SHOULD FIX THIS, DROPBOX -- IT'S BEEN OVERLOOKED FOR YEARS. SORT IT OUT PLEASE - TODAY WOULD BE GOOD. This will take a decent programmer in your offices *20mins tops to document*. PROBLEM: THE HEADLESS DROPBOX - IDEAL FOR MANY LINUXES ****HAS NO WAY TO RELOCATE THE STORAGE FOLDER***** On Win / Mac / Ubuntu there's a GUI - but for the hundreds of other Linux situations, and most servers, WE USE COMMAND LINE -- but you FORCE US to put the synch folder in the most obviously idiotic place - under home. And moving it is then IMPOSSIBLE it seems. "Jane" replied with this helpful news three years ago on this thread: [ https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Apps-and-Installations/Unable-to-access-preference-menu-on-linux/td-p/232112/page/3 ] . ## SO DROPBOX -- what are the millions of us out here supposed to do ????? Can you FIX this IDIOTIC OMISSION please. I only ask because I have work associates who want Dropbox. (Cloud on Linux is massively simpler with Google Drive. Just works). Looking forward in anticipation to your detailed help. No sarcasm intended. (Apologies to all the good people in Community but there seems no way to actually reach a Dropbox person). Thanks MikeHLondon [ PS that detail advice from 2013 - it doesn't work. MHL ]4.4KViews2likes7CommentsDropbox keeps wanting to connect my computer (it already is)
Every time I start my system (Fedora 37) - Dropbox opens my browser and asks if I want to connect my computer to my Dropbox account. It already is and if I select yes it does nothing and selecting cancel un-syncs my computer with Dropbox. I can't get rid of this prompt and I'm not sure where it's originating from otherwise I'd go in and get rid of it. If there's no easy fix, I'll just uninstall Dropbox and reinstall it, but I'm leery of getting this issue again.Solved1.9KViews0likes5CommentsReceived Verification email but nothing happens when I click on Verify Email
I no longer have access to the email my dropbox is associated with so I need to change my email address. I go to settings and my email address has "Edit" next to it. I click on Edit and enter my new email address along with the password for my account. It gives me a message to check my email and "Verify my Email". I receive the email but when I click on the Blue bar that says Verify Email, it takes me to a page that says I need to log in to verify my identity. If I enter my new email address, it asks me to create a new account. If I enter my old email address, it asks for a 6 digit code that is being sent to the email address I don't have access to anymore. I tried going back to my account settings and below the line with my old email address, it has my new email address and it says "Pending email change". There is an option to "Verify Email" there but it just sends a new email - which also doesn't work. I can't imagine that this is a user error, but I could be wrong.Solved1.9KViews2likes3CommentsDropbox keeps spamming me about my storage space running out
Dropbox keeps sending me emails and notifications about my storage space reaching its capacity, as if I've got 100 megabytes of it left or something. It says that if I won't buy another plan then I'm risking losing my files, and a dozen of variations of the same message. I've been using Dropbox since 2010 and I've got a basic free plan of 2 gigs, but I've increased my storage space by inviting friends and doing "challenges", so now I have around 16 gigs of space and 13.5 of them are used. That is not "critically low on space" by any means, but I keep receiving so many spam notifications that it's starting to look threatening. Either Dropbox has a bug in calculation how much space I have occupied by comparing it to the basic plan instead of actual space, or it's doing it on purpose to force me to pay. Also I cannot contact live support since I have a free plan. I'm thankful to Dropbox for the service it provides but I'm pretty sure this is not how a service should treat its long-term customers. If this is a bug then I sincerely hope that it will be fixed as soon as possible.1.8KViews2likes4Comments
