92 TopicsQuestions about shared folders, storage space and permissions
Hi all, After cleaning up all the mess in my Dropbox account I would like you to comment on two questions I have: As an example. .I have a folder A, and a lot of subfolders within that folder, called 1, 2, 3 etc. In the subfolder A1 there are a few subfolders, called, A1a, A1b etc. I want to share the subfolders A1a, A1b etc. The person I want to share folders with has a free Dropbox account (2 GB). I give them permission for A1a. So the person opens Dropbox goes into my account until the level of A1, finds the subfolder A1a, opens that and does what this person wants to do. As long as the folder A1a is smaller than 2GB that's okay for this person to do. After editing files within A1a, the folder may be closed and removed from the free Dropbox account. In this way this person has always 2GB available. One or more shared folders may not exceed 2GB. Is this a way to use Dropbox and shared folders? A shared folder can be opened by another person as long as necessary until I remove the permission, right? Thanks in advance and with kindest regards, Leo.Solved109Views0likes2CommentsFiles are zero bytes on Dropbox on File Provider
I'm on a Mac with OS Sequoia, running Dropbox Plus, version 242.4.5815. My Dropbox folder location is on my internal hard drive. I've set Default sync preference to online-only since our business had files too numerous to store on my 500 GB internal drive. I have reinstalled the Dropbox app this morning and restarted my computer to try to fix these issues, to no avail. In my Mac Finder, many files are showing as zero bytes. This creates problems with InDesign not seeing linked files. If I double click the zero-byte files and then close them, this activates them somehow, and then InDesign can see them and their true size shows in Finder. How can I make these files available automatically without having to open each one? There are way too many to open each one like this. Additionally, the Dropbox quick action menu is missing when I right click a Finder file. It used to be available. How do I restore this functionality? Why is my system not eligible for Dropbox on File Provider? Is this the source of the problem? Thanks for your help. Hello, When I try to share any file I get an error "We've interrupted your sharing activity. For details or to contact support read our help center article". I read the article and I can't find any files that could violate the terms. I don't understand what is the reason for the blocking. It is impossible to contact technical support. The bot can't help in any way - it doesn't even understand the question. Are there any ways to solve this problem?73Views0likes1CommentSome available offline files won't preview after changed from online-only on Windows.
I’m afraid we’re are migrating away from Dropbox, however whilst doing so we have noticed the following issue…. (Windows 11 – Latest Dropbox Version). Hence we though this may be useful. Most of our 2TB files are stored as “Online” only using Selective Sync. We then change the file status to “Available offline” so Dropbox copies(sync’s) the files back to the local disk from Dropbox.com. After some time (several hours) the Dropbox app confirms that all files are sync’d and the Dropbox task bar icon also indicates a complete/no activity status. The PC is rebooted and Dropbox is then uninstalled When trying to view via the PC the now sync’d Zip, Jpeg, Docx some of the files are corrupted/won’t open. As a test using Dropbox.com we manually download a problem file using MS Edge and the files will open correctly. It would seem that the Windows Dropbox client indicates it has finished its jobs even through it hasn’t fully completed syncing … We've also noticed that the corrupted file vs good file byte size are the same. We could duplicate this fault. Any thoughts ?8KViews0likes18CommentsA new folder I created says it doesn't have an owner when I try to share it
Dropbox Plan Plus Are you a Team Member or Admin? No. I own the account. There is no Admin, and there are no Team Members Do you have access to the email linked to the account? Yes Are there any devices connected to your Dropbox account? Not that I'm aware of. Question or Issue I created a new folder. It is not within another folder - when I click All Files, it shows at that level. Then I tried to Share it and I got the message below. I've never encountered this problem before when creating folders. What have I done wrong, and how can I create a new folder that I can share?196Views0likes4CommentsMy colleague needs additional storage to view content inside a folder that we share. Why?
My friend and I are volunteers at an animal shelter, and both use Windows PCs. I take videos of the dogs to be posted on social media to help get them adopted. I am a Dropbox Plus subscriber, she has a Dropbox Basic subs. We are both members of a Dropbox shared folder. When she receives a link that I have uploaded videos to that folder and clicks on it, she receives s message that she needs more storage to view, and can only see pics from the videos. Any ideas to solve this problem?Solved176Views0likes5CommentsDropbox not syncing when the document is open
Device: Acer Swiftbook 5 Operating System: Windows 11 Dropbox App Version: 234.4.5591 Dropbox Plan: Plus Question or Issue Hi all - I have had Dropbox installed on my laptop for years and it runs just fine. I save everything to it, and everything just saves automatically to Dropbox. I am the only user of the account. This weekend I had to do a reset of my computer and reinstall all apps (the problem was unrelated to Dropbox). Everything is back up and running, and Dropbox is syncing fine etc with almost everything. But in a couple of apps that I use, although it will save just fine, it will only sync with my account if I close the document entirely. It never used to do this, it would sync as soon as I saved it even if I kept the document open to keep working on it. I can't work out from the help pages why it might be doing that. Most thing work as previously and will sync as soon as saved. Any help gratefully received! Hi, A file or folder is downloaded from my desktop into Dropbox. I use colors etc for files and folders on my desktop, but they do not show in Dropbox. For that reason I prefer to work on my files and folders on my desktop. Is there a way to refresh a file or folder in Dropbox, without uploading it again to Dropbox. In that case it adds the file or folder, does not refresh the one in Dropbox. Hopefully you understand my problem. Looking forward to some help.Solved184Views0likes4Comments
