I uploaded a folder with pictures from my D disk, an internal extra HD. All of a sudden I seem to have imported lots and lots of photo's, so many I cann't even find the ones I tried to upload. There were more photos on the D-disk but I thought I would do it folder by folder. Is this what I could have expected?28Views0likes4CommentsUpload versus back-up?
I know the difference between uploading a file and backing up one. But....when I upload a folder from my desktop into Dropbox it is still present on my desktop. The same is true when I backup a folder. This makes me wonder about the difference between the two.Solved86Views0likes8CommentsFolders, with folders, with folders ....
I have a very large folder (36 GB), containing folders, containing folders etc. I tried to upload the large folder but it didn't work; just a small part was uploaded. Is there a limit to what I can upload? I understand it will take a lot of time. Thanks in advance, Leo.29Views0likes3Comments"We’ve interrupted your sharing activity" error when trying to share files
Dear Friends So I have been using Dropbox Plus for years with and have never had this issue ever. I contacted support regarding this and they asked me to wait for 24 hours which i did. Nothing happened after 24 hours and i still got the error on every file. I created a txt file using browser and tried to share but received the same error. The PC was clean without any viruses or malware but i re-ran all the scans just to be sure again. No malware ! Frustrated, I uninstalled the dropbox from this PC, unlinked it and reinstalled it on another new pc which was also clean. Sure enough, I got the error again. I have emailed Dropbox support 2-3 times, have chatted with them but they have got no clue. It was shocking to say the least. I'm ready to delete all the cloud data as well if that can help but I'm not sure if that will help either. Just stuck with this premium account which is of no use. Can you guys suggest what could be done to get this working ? Ticket #24875011 Thanks30Views0likes3CommentsFolder Activity sidebar will not open when using Firefox.
When I click on the gear icon to click on Folder Activity for a folder, the right-side sidebar will not slide open. All the other links in the dropdown menu from the gear icon seem to work, but not Folder Activity. Currently using Dropbox on my Firefox web browser (Mac).81Views0likes10CommentsHow to revert all files from "online-only" and save to local disk?
Awhile back I used SmartSync to free up disk space. I'm now trying to ensure all files are on the local disk rather than only online. Is there a way to accomplish this? One idea: under preferences in the Dropbox.com settings I found an option to drop the Dropbox file extension, which "allows Dropbox to store files as online-only to save hard drive space." When I toggle it on without saving, I'm told "The system extension will be uninstalled and you’ll be signed out of Dropbox on all devices within the hour. When you sign back in, you can choose what folders to download from Dropbox.com. You will no longer be able to make files online-only." My issue with this is I have 200k+ files perhaps half of which are online-only and Dropbox has limits of file transfer/bandwidth that might prevent me from downloading them all.Solved2.7KViews0likes7CommentsDropbox seems to be corrupting files…
I’m afraid we’re are migrating away from Dropbox, however whilst doing so we have noticed the following issue…. (Windows 11 – Latest Dropbox Version). Hence we though this may be useful. Most of our 2TB files are stored as “Online” only using Selective Sync. We then change the file status to “Available offline” so Dropbox copies(sync’s) the files back to the local disk from Dropbox.com. After some time (several hours) the Dropbox app confirms that all files are sync’d and the Dropbox task bar icon also indicates a complete/no activity status. The PC is rebooted and Dropbox is then uninstalled When trying to view via the PC the now sync’d Zip, Jpeg, Docx some of the files are corrupted/won’t open. As a test using Dropbox.com we manually download a problem file using MS Edge and the files will open correctly. It would seem that the Windows Dropbox client indicates it has finished its jobs even through it hasn’t fully completed syncing … We've also noticed that the corrupted file vs good file byte size are the same. We could duplicate this fault. Any thoughts ?6.9KViews0likes18CommentsHow can I send or share a folder privately to another user?
I want to send my landlord a copy of my ID, a bank account statement, and some paystubs. This is sensitive information, so I would rather not email it, but after exploring the various options that dropbox offers, I think this is my only option. - "Dropbox Transfer" doesn't work because my landlord doesn't have dropbox. - "Dropbox DocSend" doesn't work for a number of reasons. - I want to send a folder with 3 files. - I don't want to pay a ton of extra money for this to work. I already pay for Dropbox Plus. My Question is: What kind of Dropbox plan/subscription would I need to make this work? I have Dropbox Plus, do I need to upgrade that? Is a "Dropbox DocSend" subscription something different? Overall I am disappointed at the moment in two things. 1) This seems like a really basic, simple thing to do, and moreover, it is something that will help prevent crime and identity theft. Why doesn't Dropbox support it? (or at least why do they reserve this feature only for larger business accounts) 2) The pricing structure / feature structure is obscured and is confusing. I think the end solution will be that I just email my landlord these documents. Hopefully they stay safe.Solved399Views0likes3CommentsWhat is the best way to sync large files efficiently across devices in Dropbox?
What’s the best way to sync large files across multiple devices in Dropbox without running into storage limits or slow upload speeds? Are there specific settings or features that can help optimize this process?Solved462Views0likes3CommentsCan't create MS Word docs in Dropbox anymore
Let me explain how it used to work and now doesn't. I would go into Dropbox on my Android phone, Select the folder I wanted to create the Microsoft Word document in and then Select the "Plus Symbol" found in the blue circle 🔵 found floating on lower right hand corner (that option is still there) after selecting the Plus Sign we are presented with an option to "Create or upload file" After selecting that option, I would be presented with a drop-down list of files I could create. These would include the 3 native Dropbox options of "Paper" "Text File" & 'Upload Files" as well as a list of Microsoft file types, which included MS Word & Excel and maybe PowerPoint. I would then select MS Word, and a MS Word document would be created and MS Word App would be seamlessly be activated and away I would go, creating content and saving it safely in Dropbox. Happy days! Now unfortunately when I select "Create or upload file" only the 3 native Dropbox options appear, no longer can I select a Microsoft Document type. I'm not sure why this change has occurred, and there is a work around I've found, but it's clumsy and time consuming and certainly doesn't have the elegance of what I was used to with seamless integration and function. My question is, how can I get the elegant integrated "create" MS Word option/ solution in Dropbox back, I don't want a clumsy work around.566Views0likes7Comments
