Dropbox App Version (if using the app) None Question or Issue Hello! What is the current, actual file limit PER FILE for Dropbox REQUEST files? I always believed it was 50GB, so I always asked my team to keep their uploads to 50GB per zipped file. However, a team member just uploaded a file that was 67GB, and I was able to download it without issue. If this is a change, I'd like to be aware of the new limit and to inform my team that the 50GB limit (which was always pretty annoying as our files tend to be over 150 GB per wedding), is no longer in place, making our lives easier. The reason I'm asking here is because I can't find any relevant or up to date information online. Everything I'm finding either mentions the 50 GB limit (which seems to have been increased), or doesn't talk about Dropbox Request, only Dropbox uploads in general. Thanks!Solved95Views0likes3CommentsWhat is the difference between sharing a link or Dropbox Transfer?
What are the exact differences between choosing a folder and sharing the link of that folder to a person who doesnt have Dropbox, or using Dropbox Transfer to send that folder to the same person? Do not suggest me that that person should download Dropbox. He is not allowed to use it in his workplace since they use a different system. I have Dropbox Professional with University of Florida, I am employed there.Solved2.2KViews0likes7CommentsFiles are suddenly zero kb
Hi, I have browsed through the forums, but couldn't find any relevant posts. I have a few documents that are several years old, SUDDENLY they are zero kb and cannot be opened. I haven't really changed anything in my set up. (I am on a Mac, Monterey, OSX 12.6.1, but I'm pretty sure the problem was there even before I updated to Monterey) The issue relates to BOTH offline and online files, i.e. they are zero kb both online and in my local folder! I have tried switching between "make files available offline" and "online only" but to no avail. Please help, since these are quite important files. All of my JPG images in Dropbox on my laptop have converted to PDFs and are uploading as PDFs from my phone. On the Dropbox app on my phone the images are still JPGs. Can anyone tell me the setting to convert everything back and have my uploads remain in JPG format? Adobe won't even let me open the PDFS saying I have to upgrade to Pro!198Views0likes1CommentI’m having a problem with re-uploading my photos and videos from my iPhone
Hello! I’m currently having a problem: I had started uploading my Camera Roll, using the Camera Upload feature, on my iPhone. A little over 2,000 photos/videos had uploaded when I realized that the they were in JPEG format instead of HEIC. I then deleted the ‘Camera Uploads’ folder and then deleted them again from the ‘Deleted Files’ tab. When attempting to re-upload them, the process started where it left off and it disregarded the 2,000-something photos it had originally uploaded. Now, I’ve read around and I’ve seen people say that the FAQ says something about every uploaded photo has a GUID, so that no photo/video can ever be re-uploaded, but I feel like there has to be a way for the GUID’s of my first set of uploaded photos/videos to be deleted, so that I can re-upload them. Can anyone help me? This is a link to a thread, where someone had a similar problem. If/How it was fixed is still unknown to me: https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Create-upload-and-share/Dropbox-iPhone-consistently-does-not-see-or-upload-all-photos/m-p/670354/highlight/true#M66831 Thank You and God Bless!!!365Views0likes4CommentsNew macOS packages added from a Mac computer cannot be synced to Windows
I am a Markdown user who relies on Dropbox to synchronize my files across multiple devices, including both Mac and Windows machines. However, I have encountered an issue with the Dropbox application on M1 Macs, which has adopted Apple's latest File Provider framework. The problem arises when working with textbundles, a file format commonly used by Markdown editors to store the Markdown document along with its associated assets, such as images. Dropbox now treats textbundles as "New macOS packages" and only allows them to be accessed on devices running Dropbox for macOS on File Provider. This change is entirely unnecessary for textbundles, as their contents are simply the Markdown document and its attachments, which should be accessible on any device. By restricting access to textbundles, Dropbox has effectively locked my Markdown files within Apple's walled garden, preventing me from editing them on my Windows devices. I strongly believe that Dropbox should reconsider this approach and allow textbundles to be synchronized and accessed across all platforms, as they are essentially just folders containing Markdown files and assets. The current implementation hinders the cross-platform workflow that many Markdown users, like myself, rely on. It would be greatly appreciated if Dropbox could provide an option to exclude textbundles from being treated as "New macOS packages" and enable seamless synchronization and access across all devices. Thank you for your attention to this matter.720Views0likes4CommentsWhy does a shared folder not share quota?
I just got off a chat with one of Dropbox's representatives. In short, I have a Dropbox professional plan and I created a separate folder for each of my students. Yesterday, one of my students got a message that her account is "full" despite me having two and a half terabytes of free space left. Well, guess what, space is calculated double - once on my account and once on hers. So, let me get this straight, if I share a big folder with a lot of files with, say, 20 people, Dropbox will require all 20 of them to pay for the same amount of space!? Anybody from Dropbox cares to justify this!?Solved3KViews3likes10CommentsSharing a folder with view only and with a password.
Hello, i am testing professional trial for my online course and share materials and ive have had some issues with sharing a folder. I can make a link and send it that allows members to see the materials but not to download it. and link is protected with password. so far so good. but: -they still have a permission to download files. -they need to make an account to dropbox to see the materias. -they doesent need to sing in with password that i created. They just come in when they get the link and sign in their dropbox acco. im askin are these problems just because im still on a professional-trial version or something else? is professional version good for sharing online course to >100 customers?1.2KViews0likes4Comments
